TBE Chapter 96

Ezekiel watched the boys run off with a smile on his face. He didn’t mind that they left him to do all the cooking, since, to be honest, he enjoyed it, and he enjoyed the fact that his brothers were happy.
While he was preparing to grill some more pork, he suddenly thought of a most important fact that he wanted to hit himself.
He had the spell Fabricate. He was also reasonably skilled enough in cooking that he could cook the recipes that he was looking at, especially those that he had cooked before, well enough that everyone found them delicious. That meant that he could replicate the dishes as long as he had the ingredients laid down.
So that was what Ezekiel did. He put together a portion of pork that was already marinated and beside was the bowl that he brought that he was going to use to store them and beside that was the grill and the charcoal in case they were necessary for the spell to be successful. Then he cast his spell Fabricate.
It was a success. A huge bowl full of perfectly grilled pork appeared. They were even smoking hot. All the ingredients that were supposed to be used, including some of the charcoal, disappeared.
Ezekiel was so flabbergasted at the wonder of the spell. He couldn’t comprehend how it would work since it defied logic and probably the fundamentals of chemistry and physics, but then again, that was what magic was supposed to do. The only thing the spell couldn’t bypass was the need for the “raw materials,” which were the ingredients, and even some of the charcoal, which was probably the “raw material” that allowed the dish to become hot, disappeared.
The result of the experiment meant that he only needed to master a recipe and have the complete ingredients, and he could replicate the food anytime he wanted. The next thing that he did was to cast the spell several times to empty all the boar and pheasants that he had already prepared on the kitchen table. It resulted in a total of five bowls of grilled pork and five bowls of grilled pheasants.
That also meant that he didn’t need to store so much food since he could replicate any recipes anytime he wanted using ingredients and the spell Fabricate, and he could do so during every meal since it would only take a few seconds for him to finish the whole process.
The only thing Ezekiel needed to do was to make sure that he was able to cook a recipe with enough mastery that the spell would not fail. That meant that if he wanted to create something new using the spell Fabricate, he would need to cook it first. He also tested if he could conjure steamed rice, and he was able to, but he made sure that all the ingredients, including the stove and its fuel, were there.
He cleaned up everything, and the next thing that he did was to compile all the recipes that he knew how to cook since he had cooked them before in a massive book. He did that by purchasing a massive notebook and an instant camera that prints pictures automatically.
Ezekiel retrieved the dishes that he had cooked before and took a picture of them one by one. He taped the picture in the notebook, and underneath it, he listed the ingredients needed to cook the food. With the notebook, he only needed to refer to specific dishes the prepare the ingredients together with the stove and its fuel, and voila, the dish would be ready.
After less than 2 hours, he completed his notebook. The next thing that he planned to do was cook the food that he wanted to master, so he could replicate it using his spell Fabricate, and that would be the bread and the fish.
He thought about purchasing a charcoal oven, but then again, thinking about the process of baking the bread and equipment he needed to use to do so, he gave up and just planned to buy the bread either directly from the system store or purchase them in bulk when they arrived in a village or a town somewhere.
Since he was unfamiliar with cooking fish, it took him until around six in the evening to master just three different fish dishes. He wasn’t even sure if the taste was acceptable, as it tasted just like any other fish dish he had tried. The moment he was able to replicate the fish dishes using his spell Fabricate, was when their vacation at that place concluded.
The spell Fabricate was truly one of the best spells, second only to his first favorite spell, which was the spell Prestidigitation. There might even come a time when the Prestidigitation spell would be replaced by Fabricate in his personal ranking of the best spells.
Thinking of all the things he could use the spell Fabricate for made Ezekiel imagine a world full of wonder. He could open his own restaurant or a traveling food cart, among other possibilities. Logically, he should have thought of it before, since he had the idea of using the spell to earn gold coins, but for some reason, the only thing that came to his mind back then was using it to sell wooden arts and crafts.
He then thought that the main reason was that Ezekiel wanted to avoid suspicious activities. People would wonder where he had obtained the ingredients he used if he sold food, and why they remained fresh. However, with wooden knick-knacks, the forest provided an unlimited supply of wood he could use, and people would think he was crafting things while traveling.
Ezekiel added the fish dishes to his massive notebook of recipes with pictures and stored them in his 4th tab space. After that, he cleaned up the kitchen. He then went to Prince Charming's stable and cleaned their donkey using his Prestidigitation spell, and then, after that, fed and watered the animal.
Before the sun had truly set, Robert, Luke, and Simon arrived. Their guardian was carrying a boar and a deer. Since Prince Charming was already clean, he asked Simon to clean the animals that he had hunted, which took him around one hour. then, after that, Ezekiel stored his game animals.
The boys then went to the washroom to bathe while Ezekiel prepared their lesson for the night, and when he was done, he went upstairs to bathe as well. Robert, Luke, and Simon were already done bathing and were playing in the bedroom when Ezekiel passed them by.
During the lessons that night, Ezekiel told everyone that he was done cooking and that they would be leaving the next day. After lessons and dinner, they rested well, and the next day, they left early.
“Simon, you don’t have to hunt anymore game animals since we have plenty already,” Ezekiel told their guardian, and Simon, although looking a little disappointed, just nodded.
While they were on the road, they actually encountered a traveler. It was a farmer and his son going from their farm to the nearby village. Their cart contained several barrels, and the farmer said that it had some cider that the village mayor purchased.
“The village mayor’s birthday is today, so there will be a celebration tonight. Everyone’s invited, so might as well join us!” The farmer named Hector said.
Hector’s son, who looked like a fourteen-year-old kid, was named Dennis and, with his father’s permission, joined Ezekiel and his brothers in their cart. Dennis thought that he was older than Ezekiel, so he was lording it over the brothers, but in a good way, adopting a big brother style, wanting to introduce everyone to them.
Dennis was fascinated with their umbrella, but Ezekiel did make sure to turn off the fan before the boy climbed into their cart. The boy farmer was intimidated by Simon, so he tried his best to ignore their guardian, which Ezekiel found amusing.
Robert and Luke showed all of their toys to Dennis, and because their toys looked good, even though they were not moving anymore since Ezekiel dispelled the Tiny Servant spell that was cast on them, Dennis was looking at each of the boys’ toys excitedly.
Robert and Luke even began telling him the story of One Piece while showing off their toy ship, and for a moment, the big boy that was supposed to be their big brother was looking at the tiny Robert and Luke with wide eyes.
Ezekiel had to admit that his lessons to his brothers every night were working since his brothers were getting eloquent. Their storytelling was well-paced and organized, which truly impressed him. Even the farmer, Hector, and Simon, who had heard some of the One Piece story from Ezekiel, started listening as well.
They spent the time going to the village listening to Robert and Luke’s storytelling about the adventures of Luffy and his gang. When noon arrived, Hector and Dennis looked confused when Simon parked their cart under a nearby huge tree.
“Why are you boys stopping?” Hector asked.
“It’s time for lunch,” Simon said, and Ezekiel invited the father and son to join them.
Ezekiel retrieved the food that he cooked from his 4th tab space under the cover of one of their large storage chest lid and placed them on the table. When Hector and Dennis saw the spread, their jaws dropped.
While they were all eating, Dennis kept exclaiming that their food was the best food he had ever eaten in his life. Ezekiel, Robert, and Luke looked nonchalant, but Simon looked proud.
