Kiri La Kill - Chapter 7

Kiri counted out the pile of money in his hand with a proud smile… here he was, enjoying the fruits of his labor.

It had not been back-breaking of course, for his Quirk and strength had more than accounted for the comparatively lighter workload in a construction company that consisted of the Quirkless… but still, looking at the building now compared to how it looked when he’d first arrived? It was like night and day.

So, he felt like he could say goodbye to this sleepy little mountain town with a content smile, and let that smile harden into a look of resolve as he stepped toward his actual goal… the recovery of his memories and all of those little objectives relating to it that he had long since carved into his head by now.

Kiri had used his time wisely, his research having borne fruit in the form of a treasure trove of information relating to Honnouji Academy. Being as famous as they were, the internet was filled to the brim with tales of their exploits, and all of the related information that lay just below the surface.

The draconic practices of the school and the city it oversaw, the near limitless and achingly familiar abilities of the Goku Uniforms, the identities and abilities of the much lauded Elite Four… and numerous interviews delivered by the stoic Kiryuin Satsuki, the one who stood at the top of it all.

It had all given him an idea of what to expect when he finally reached his destination.

Of course, there was no doubt that there was a lot of information Kiri simply couldn’t reach through the internet. For places like Honnouji Academy were as filled to the brim with secrets as he was hard, and no doubt quite a bit of those secrets were of the variety that would come back to bite Kiri in the ass.

Like the particulars of just what these Goku Uniforms were, the exact nature of the connection between the Kiryuin family’s separate but very interconnected organizations, and what the comparatively incomprehensible REVOCS had in terms of secrets of its own…

There was nothing he could do but to ensure he was ready at all times.

He would have to be, if he wanted to survive what came next.

A big chunk of Kiri’s newly acquired funds, amounting to more than half, went to necessities such as a phone with access to the internet, so that he could keep himself updated on the situation with Honnouji Academy at all times.

Another vital purchase had, of course, been a train ticket to Tokyo. From which he would buy himself another trip across the Bay in order to get to the island that Honno City, and therefore its ruling Academy, lay atop of. His remaining funds would be just about enough to keep himself fed and watered on the way there…

It would have been cheaper and faster, no doubt, to just go the whole way on foot. He had more than enough energy to do so after all… But there was also no doubt that he would arrive in Honno City in a way worse condition than he'd arrived at the town at, and after that miserable experience of everyone treating him like a monster that just emerged from the swamp?

Kiri was more than happy to take the longer, and cleaner route.

He left the sleepy little town with the evening bus, and bought his ticket with a smile and a thank you. Huddling in his newly acquired jacket as he waited for the night to pass among a crowd of similar-minded people, feeling somewhat drowsy and wondering if it would be safe for him to doze off.

It was undeniable that he had acquired some newfound optimism, and through that optimism, confidence. And really, how could he not? His situation was finally looking up for once, he had a concrete plan and the strength to ensure he could see it through.

But of course, even the greatest of plans could be made a victim of circumstance.

For of course, Kiri’s plan did not take into account that Honnouji Academy already knew that he had arrived, and what he looked like… it did not take into account that they had assets ready in the area, who were more than willing to bring him in.

So, when the very ground of the train station began to shake, heralding a cacophonous sound coming from the direction of the road… Kiri could not help but feel like his mission might not be as simple as he thought after all.

Let it not be said however, that Kirishima Eijiro was not adaptable.

Shaking off his drowsiness in an instant, he was able to spring to his feet immediately. Running by the people who were all too worried about what was coming, and going off to investigate the approach of a possible threat on what was pure instinct.

His dash led him to the exterior of the station, where his eyes immediately locked onto a patch of light that was rapidly approaching… The darkness of the night made it impossible to pick out a shape, but the way that the light was swaying this or that way--- it did not fill the hard boy with too much confidence.

He turned to the people that had gathered to watch the show… they were in danger.

“Head inside!” He ordered immediately, raising his voice and cutting through all of their worried chatter. “It’s too dangerous outside, come on!” The authority in his voice, along with his imposing appearance, spurred them all into action… and soon enough, Kiri was the only person standing at the entrance of the station.

With a deep breath, he took up a ready stance and awaited the arrival of his possible opponent, only sparing a look at the clock to not that his train would arrive in a little over an hour and a half. Plenty of time in his mind, to deal with this threat.

But of course, the aforementioned passage about plans still rang true…

The light and the ugly sound it brought with it, grew closer and closer until it finally broke into the parking lot of the train station with a roar. The intensity of the ground shaking only becoming more so as Kiri’s eyes were assaulted by a flash of light, the boy instinctually closing them even as his Quirk came to blanket his body in preparation.

As fast as the light came, it went away… and Kiri was able to blink his eyes open to see—

It was a bus… a monstrosity of a bus whose size exceeded even the famous double-decker buses of Britain. It looked to be such an unbalanced monstrosity, that Kiri could tell that the additional wheels placed haphazardly around its sides, alongside a ton of other modifications, was the only reason that it had survived all of the tumbling that he’d witnessed.

Tumbling it seemed, that had no effect on the people inside, Kiri noted, as with a tortured hiss, the doors suddenly slid open… and people began to step out.

Kiri found himself facing eleven people.

The clock steadily ticked town, until finally… it rang.

90 Minutes left, until his train arrived.
