TRAILER BREAKDOWN!

Hey patrons! We recorded a trailer breakdown episode today but I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to edit it, so I thought I'd share our outline in case anyone wanted to read it or compare notes :,) 

you can see this outline get more and more unhinged and messy as I ran out of time but pls enjoy and let us know what you thought of the trailer!

• 0:00-0:15 We open on the Met, “Perseus, that’s me” “Mhmm, that’s who you’re named after” “Cause he was a hero, and he was brave and kind and against all odds, he managed to find his way to a happy ending”
  • Mentioned at nycc that the met scenes were all filmed in the volume, so they got to do fun stuff like make the proportions different and lower the ceiling so you could see the glass ceiling etc.
  • This is a young child actor playing younger percy and i literally thought they de-aged walker for like 10 seconds (i can’t find his name rn)
  • This dialogue between sally and percy is NOT in the books and is just the beginning of an expanded upon relationship between the two of them that i am SO excited to see. Showrunner Jon Steinberg spoke about how as a parent, he really wanted to dig into this relationship between the two of them more, and how he sees this story as just as much the story of having to let go of your kid.
    • Imagine sally taking percy to the met and trying to EDUCATE him as much as she can!!! Also to escape gabe! Ugh
  • Split second flash shots we see here: trio entering probably the underworld, percy unpacking blue candy probably at camp half blood, grover falling down something, a shot of the st louis arch probably POV as percy falls, percy running in the woods at camp half blood during capture the flag, percy either being pummeled with rain or water??, percy in the pouring rain shot we’ve previously scene  Could be on halfblood hill or during the minotaur fight, the disney lightning logo

• 0:18-0:23 “I’m used to the world feeling weird to me
  • Eating lunch at the met field trip, converse for grover vans for percy, grover gets hit by a slice of american cheese OUCH, percy is gonna EFF someone up, Olivea Morton as nancy bobfit slaying and eating and leaving no crumbs
• 0:22-0:26 “Like a puzzle with half the wrong pieces”
  • At the met, percy diligently doing his assignment (let us contrast this with good for nothing film version percy who didnt pay attention) percy’s a GOOD KID. we see the dyslexia animated here. His written name on the assignment is the same as it is on the back of the official CHB shirts and i really wanna ask if that’s actuall walker’s handwriting because it feels right
• “But lately, it all feels different somehow *horse noise*”
  • Percy stumbling back in front of the met, a shot of WHAT NO ONE CAN TELL ME IS NOT BLACKJACK ON THE ROOF, SPREADING HIS WINGS IN A WHINNNIE THAT CAN BE DIRECTLY TRANSLATED TO WHADDDDUP BOSS?!
• 0:37 Mr. Brunner: “You are special, when you’re ready to hear what the gods have in store for you, they’ll tell you”
  • The costuming on Glynn turman as chiron here is PERFECT, the little blazer, the tie, the earthtones. This is him giving percy the riptide pen and its a regular bic capped pen. When this clip showed at comic con robert screamed in my ear, ITS A BIC PEN
  • EPIC shot of just the pen in his hand on a huge musical downbeat as it starts to VIBRATE
• 0:38 “Percy the stories I have told you about the greek gods and monsterrs, they are real”
  • Sally in the montauk cabin, fire is flickering, ares walking on the beach presumably at Santa Monica beach, sunrise, clearly a volume shot cause i wanna say there are no lighthouses there lol
  • Medusa back of head shot!
  • CERBERUS ATTACK!! Good doberman. Shoutout to Erik Henry one of the VFX supervisors who was in charge of designing all the magical creatures!!!!!! Said the chimera was his favorite thing to work on in the show and i think also what he is the most proud of.
  • These animated lightning transitions in and out of shots, gotta love it
• *based on blah blah* “This is crazy!” “You are a halfblood and halfbloods are not safe in the world.” “Everything has been training for what’s still ahead of you”
  • Percy getting pissed standing up in the cabin, looking down at his mom who is seated (this shot is a mtepahor)
  • Shot of camp AND clarisse bullying percy in the middle of the cabiNS HAHAHHA
    • It is so fun how clearly canada this is, these plants do not be growing in long island
  • Shot of car driving to camp, grover from the backseat lecturing percy. (this scene was so good at nycc) and i love that we actually get to SEE that training that sally was trying to give percy as best she could alongside chiron

  • They decided it would run on all fours but also fight standing up, Erik Henry said there was something very scary about that

  • Shot of camp half blood lake, canoes, once again, this is canada, percy walking to his big blue cabin, percy speaking to poseidon probably on olympus? Or in a dream?, shot of the master bolt being semi slammed down on the desk of the ESB lobby attendant im DEAD it’s time for PERSASSSYYYY, chiron lecturing percy in probably the big house, CLARISSE LIGHTING UP HER ELECTRIC SPEAR IN CAPTURE THE FLAG!!!!, EPIC SYNCOPATED SWORD CLINKING NOISES AS PERCY FIGHTS BACK IN CTF, walker looking up on the beach probably at sunrise santa monica?

  • I can’t tell where these spooky gray shots are and what that spooky lady is but i have heard people guessing that it is the underworld?
  • THIS IS EPIC LET US GATHER THE QUEST!! What looks like a meeting between the head counselors standing in a little open air ionic column gazebo, SHOT OF ANNABETH SHOT OF GROVER SHOT OF ALL THREE HAHAHAHAHH SLAY
