For those of you that want to play through the latest Patreon build, it is up for purchase. on itch.io. It is build number 1.01. You can get it in the link here. https://hiddenwall.itch.io/kingsguard/devlog/133738/kingsguard-patreon-build-available-for-purchase
I have been contacted by several people who had missed the cut off date when I released it on the 15th and were concerned about being charged and I apologize for having to tell you that you were too late but I want to clarify a few things up.
The reason for putting it up for purchase is that my current Patreon model is set up as a pay-per-release, meaning that I choose what posts end up being charged or free. The only charged posts I put up are the ones when I release a brand new chapter or do a hefty revision of a chapter. You are only charged on those posts if you are a current Patreon at that date and time, thus, if you joined after I had already released the build, you would not have been charged.
This is unlike the monthly model where as soon as you join you are charged and have everything unlocked. I'm sure I have said this before, but during the last build I released, people joined right after I made the release, downloaded the game, and then left, thus they got the build for free. While not a big deal personally to me, as I did eventually release the build publicly, I can't commission new art for the game without money. While I would love to have this game be free for anyone to play, the reality is that I can't support the art assets on this game on with my own money.
So rather than releasing the build on the front page, I instead sent out the builds in personal messages to those who were charged. Now to me this way is messy. It's much easier for me to just have it right there on the page so that people who join after can play it right away which is why I have been considering switching to a monthly model. I still need just a bit more time to think it through but it wont be though until after the billing cycle so that people aren't charged again and to give people time to decide whether or not they want to continue supporting this project. If not, I might continue with this way way of sending messages of the build and having them up for purchase on itch.io for those that missed it.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant, and thank you for supporting this game!
