Clara's Cottage/Village, Loretober Day Twenty-Three!

As a child, Clara was moved to the village where her father was born and raised and this is the place where the beginning of Kree and Clara's romance takes place.

Many miles away from any large town or city, Havenwood is a small village situated near the middle of the northern kingdom, surrounded by forests and plains. A few families populate homes within the village proper, but most locals live in farmhouses scattered outside the village's low stone walls. The land is relatively flat, great for growing crops and raising livestock, and as such most people who live here are farmers by trade. The largest export is wheat, but there are also orchards, an apiary, and a large herd of sheep near the area Clara lives. Clara's family knows the sheep farmers well and for decades they have worked together in order to process, spin, and dye wool.

Clara's home is to the far north east of the village, settled in front of a vast forest yet untouched by the local woodsman. This cottage was built by Clara's grandfather, who migrated to the northern kingdom to obtain more rights for his wife than the southern empire allowed. The house is two stories, with a living room and kitchen downstairs, and storage/sleeping quarters up above. There is only one bedroom, so Clara and her aunt share, but it is much more spacious now than when Aunt Ava had to share that room, and just two beds, between her whole family.

Back down at the village, there is a cobblestone road that cuts horizontally across Havenwood. On this road, various merchants travel along on their way to much bigger cities, selling their wares, buying crops and goods from Havenwood residents, and sharing stories/news at the local tavern. In the very middle of Havenwood proper is a large fire pit used for funeral rites and holiday celebrations, and along the village wall is the Hearth Tower, used for religious services and to house the Hearth Mother's flame, a sacred, bright white fire that is constantly kept lit in Her name.

Comments

It's not too difficult to change the color of a fire, but it may still be Her doing!

Scribble Mama

Bright White Flame? I guess the Hearth Mother isn't entirely fake, then.

Menthewarp

It looks so cozy! And I love seeing getting to see the law of how all this happened and where are these two got the chance to meet ✨
