A check-in after our crazy writeathon! 🦄
Added 2021-04-17 21:37:39 +0000 UTCWOOOOOO, we're done, y'all! We did it!
Well, some of us did it. Some of us (ahem, me) called it a night after 22.5 hours. But I managed to pass 10,000 words rewritten and hosted six writing streams! It was a freaking blast and getting to attempt this challenge alongside y'all made it SO much better.
To that end, PLEASE comment down below and let me know how you did during the challenge! Did you just hang out in the chat during streams and take the writing easy? Did you manage to stay up and work the entire 24 hours? Did you complete your novel or a particularly difficult scene?? LET US KNOW SO WE CAN CHEER ON YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
Also, a special thank you to my co-hosts Cam, Shay, Sarah, Sherri, Hayley, and Dai! Y'all were incredible. ☀️

I got my outline completely redone from scratch. I also filled out the full story bible, found images for all characters and known locations. It doesn't sound like much but it was a lot.

2021-04-30 16:13:50 +0000 UTCThis gave me the kick that I needed to get back to my nano project. I’m new here and I’m trying to find your regular hosting schedule. If someone has that easily available, I’d appreciate that! Thanks Kate!

2021-04-24 20:00:10 +0000 UTCI wrote 5400 and something words, but the more important thing is that the write-a-thon burned me out and got me to realize that maybe, I deserve a break after finishing an entire novel! So I've been doing just that - Cross stitching, reading, and playing video games

2021-04-23 15:40:05 +0000 UTCI tried to join as much as I could while still at work, but I also volunteered to work at a closed second dose POD so I missed out on your afternoon stream. Totally planned on catching the last one but with the time difference, I ended falling asleep before it even started lol. Got a lot worked out on Blaze though!

2021-04-23 00:39:22 +0000 UTCI made it writing until I had to leave for work. By the time I got home, I was so physically and mentally exhausted that the call of bed was too much. Still, 8 hours of writing before work and a little bit after.

2021-04-19 20:10:37 +0000 UTCI only missed your final stream (I wasn't doing hours, just streams) and wrote 3,001 words. I wanted to do writing during your drinking stream but wound up not. Still very happy with all that progress since I finished 2 chapters in 1 day.

2021-04-19 16:12:30 +0000 UTCHOORAY! I'm so glad to hear that. Definitely having y'all in the comments and hanging out made this experiment much more fun for me bahaha. And I just barely did over 10K too, we're twins! :)

2021-04-19 01:20:23 +0000 UTCI hit all the live streams, mins part of the last one when my internet crapped out. I did last the full 24 hours and then immediately conked out. I wrote a bit over 18k words, which was amazing and put my at 45.5k for my Camp NaNoWriMo total. Part of me wants to do another 24-hour write-a-thon in the future.

2021-04-18 22:49:23 +0000 UTCIt was rough. I've had to completely rework a lot of the work I did over the final few hours. But it was well worth it. Feeling like I was pushing myself is important to do every so often. Thank you, again, for dragging us on this journey with you.

2021-04-18 14:21:28 +0000 UTCThank you so much, I had so much fun! The fact that you hosted live streams for about 12 hours of the writeathon was a feat in itself! I managed to make it to every one except the final patreon (because asleep,) but I made it the full 24 hours, got just over 11k and managed to hit my Camp NaNo goal as well.

2021-04-18 07:40:17 +0000 UTCI was able to attend every stream and because of all the fun I had writing along with everyone, I reached over 40k in my story, over 15k for the day, and made it to 23.5 hours (minus a three hour nap)!

2021-04-18 04:49:33 +0000 UTCI couldn't join on Friday, I had to work. So I'm doing it over the weekend. About halfway done and 3,000 words in so far.
2021-04-18 02:42:54 +0000 UTCI mostly just hung out in the streams and chatted honestly, but it gave me motivation to write today! So, we’ll count it as a win! I had so much fun watching you go! :D

2021-04-18 01:20:27 +0000 UTCI got through some of my nanowrimo! About 6,000 extra words during the streams I was a part of!!

2021-04-17 23:34:45 +0000 UTCI worked on it yesterday but early this morning I completed the alpha draft of my second book!!!
2021-04-17 23:31:04 +0000 UTCI did about 19-20 hours!! I missed the last Patreon stream. I had the stream open and everything, then fell asleep at the beginning 😂. Overall, very productive day. I mostly worked on revising my story, which I think is easier for me than creating new words during this type of challenge. I would love to try a 24 in 36 hour challenge!
2021-04-17 23:07:26 +0000 UTCMissed the first stream cuz I was still asleep LOL Joined all the others, though! I bounced around from chapter to chapter getting the general plot of the story structured. Haven’t gone back and read anything from the last stream, especially my final 34 words at 2:00am EST 😂 Thank you, Kate for hosting these streams! They were incredibly productive for me and a ton of fun (as always).

2021-04-17 22:51:57 +0000 UTCCongrats! I love your write-a-thons!! I didn't do the 24 hours, but got 3,100 words on the novel rewrite, and hit my 30K camp nano goal! One of these days I'd really like to try for the 24 hours, but not quite yet!

2021-04-17 22:43:16 +0000 UTCI managed to join every stream and my final total was 5388 words, which I think is pretty great considering I didn't prep at all. I kept going for maybe 15 minutes after the last stream ended, but my brain completely sputtered out. I think I was about 21 hours in? It was really fun, intense, and exactly what I needed to get into a good rhythm with my book. I would definitely do this again, but maybe split it up into two 12 hour days. And I would actually get some sleep the night before.

2021-04-17 22:41:03 +0000 UTCI joined for your first live stream and had a blast! I did take it easy and wrote for a little over five hours in total. I managed writing 3590 words in my outline/zero draft. Writing sprints have been my savior lately.

2021-04-17 22:16:55 +0000 UTCKate, your write-a-thons are genuinely one of my favorite things! Usually, I just get inspired to do one on my own after watching one of your videos, but it was so great to be alongside you for this! Unfortunately, I tapped out at the 22 hr mark. My brain was so melty lol It's weird though because usually after a huge write-a-thon, I'm completely zoinked and don't want to write anymore, but somehow the 3am to the 3am (technically, it was 4am to 4am for me) really helped. Probably because I didn't have to sleep my day away when I was finished 🤔Either way, my progress was slow but mighty -- I pushed myself through the difficult parts to finally, hopefully, advance with my project. I hope you do something like this again, though maybe break it up over 36 hrs... lol Are you participating in the mega World Wide Write-A-Thon come June?
2021-04-17 22:10:43 +0000 UTCAlthough I didn't make the entire 24 hours, I managed over 10k words so that's a win in my book! It was so fun being able to hop in your streams. They helped tremendously!!!!
2021-04-17 22:07:56 +0000 UTCI got my 12 in 24 done although I was barely coherent at the end I got just over 10 thousand words! The Bisexual Bachelorette is at about 38k right now. I attended almost if not all of your streams yesterday, and they helped a ton! Although today im in a bit of a writing hangover. 😂

2021-04-17 21:58:24 +0000 UTCI went to bed as soon as you ended the last Patreon livestream. I had an extremely productive 14 hours, then a somewhat productive hours 15 and 16. After that there are large gaps in my memory. 😂 I’m thinking that the 24 in 36 challenge makes far more sense. Or maybe something where you basically repeat the Pomodoro method sequence for 12 hours.

2021-04-17 21:56:00 +0000 UTCI took it easy on the writing mainly because i kept getting headaches all day but I realized i want to do a whole 24 hour writeathon where I'm more prepared in the future!
