Double Stream Days & light drafting goals!

Hello, hello friends!

The month is off to a strange start. My plans have been pushed back a little since my husband's grandma ended up with a surprise stay in the hospital. (I had been joking that I caught her illness before, so I can't even imagine what it must have felt like at 80+ years old. I was STRUGGLING.)

We'd been staying with her in shifts to chat with the doctors, but as of yesterday, she's back home!! And now recovering in comfort, thankfully.

As a 30+ year old, I finally feel like I'm "over" whatever illness it was (three weeks later!!) and I'm just now returning to feeling like my Usual Self. Hopefully grandma will feel the same soon, too.

The plus side is April is purposefully open for me. I have my vague goal of 1,000 words drafted every work day in A Basement Brimming with Bodies.

(Which has clearly been a little hit-and-miss since I settled on this goal, lol.)

But otherwise? I am freeeeeeeeee to work on whatever I want.

Including our experiments!

Y'all voted overwhelmingly to do both the MASH and Paper Fortune Teller in one video. (And if I do have a bonus nostalgia idea, I'll add that in, too.)

So I've set up the streams for our Double Stream Days Plus Experiments.

The first, to sprint and play MASH, will be on Wednesday, April 16th, at 6:15pm CDT. (I have a dermatologist appointment that afternoon, so it'll be nice to be able to get some words in with y'all that evening.)

And the second Double Stream Day, where we'll also play with the "cootie catcher," will be on Friday, April 18th, at 1:15pm CDT.

So there is a little gap there, we're skipping over Thursday. I have my first in-person book club I'm going to be attending after over two years of being a "member"/receiving the books each month from my favorite local indie store bahaha.

Some of y'all may remember that I tried to go in person -- about a year ago -- and chickened out after realizing how many people were there for book club. Now that I've attended separate events (their Crafty Hours!) and started anxiety medication, I think I'm game and won't be too scared to participate bahaha. Keeping my fingers crossed though! :)

A final idea: Since April is so loosey-goosey for me, I'm thinking about wading through my piles of old notebooks, texts and memos to myself, and ancient Google Docs to see if I can corral all my story ideas into one place! My bet is this will be a very fun, winding walk down memory lane. (I'm also debating hosting an "idea awards show" after I go through all of them, maybe give the best/strangest ideas some superlatives or something bahahaha.)

But that's it from me! Next time I chat with y'all will be a reminder about our stream days and a summary of the early feedback from my beta readers (EEEEEK).

Thanks everyone for reading, I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! And happy writing! :)

Sending love to grandma! Also thank you for posting the stream dates in advance, I couldn’t turn on Patreon notifications for whatever reason, so I just periodically check. Happy im not gonna miss the next one! Excited for your plans! <3

Going through old ideas is such a great opportunity to see your growth as a writer and to fuel future growth. I've done this periodically, it can be difficult because, oh the cringe! But, it can clue you into things about your style and voice that becomes less obvious when you're only working with current material. Also, have fun with book club! I bet they'll be happy to have another attendee.
