Dev Journal: Doing Skin Shading (In Krita)

I actually made this guide for another artist last week, but I figured I would post it here as well as it may be helpful to others, too. This is a blending process that I took from working with charcoal, where you continue to blend in new layers atop each other to give your work an increasing amount of definition and depth. This guide is specifically for Krita, if you're using another program its blending brushes may function differently so you may need to experiment a little.

It's probably not the best method for digital art, but what I like about this is it's very tactile, for lack of a better word. You don't need to plan things out that much, you can really just get messy and feel out where you want the piece to go. Even without any forethought, as long as you put on a few different tones and layers you'll end up with shading much more soft and complex than it seems like you deserve from the work you put in.

Anyway, I hope this can help somebody! If you're interested I may post more of these, let me know if that's something you would like to see and if this guide is understandable. Thank you so much for your support, and I'll see you next week!
