Thank you so much for all your applications! I had a lot of fun reading your work and chatting with some of you, honestly I've been blown away by how big the response has been. To make sure I don't miss anyone, I'm posting the prompt here for anyone to check out here. Whether you applied before or just want to give it a shot now, feel free to message me however is most convenient, and likewise no worries if you change your mind.
In around a week, I will be collecting all the responses and going through them, then we'll see what happens from there. Right now I'm only looking for a single writer, so most importantly just have fun with the prompt and see what you can do!
Before we do anything, let me go over what the job will entail here for everyone:
Work will be commission based and come at an irregular schedule. I will send you a detailed character sheet on the character I need to be written, along with all of their art including different expressions, vore states, etc.
Each character has ~200 lines of dialogue, and I will send you a list of which lines are required and the situation they will play in (Though most of them are universal to each character.)
Depending on how things go in the future, it's possible I may ask you to write story scenes or bond stories for the characters as well.
The schedule is fairly loose, but a turnaround time within 2 weeks would be best.
Writing will be almost entirely dialogue, with the vast majority of it not involving sex/vore/etc. Character interactions will be hugely important.
While almost all content in the game will be along the lines of what's already in there, it's greatly preferred if you are open to writing characters and situations that you aren't personally attracted to just in case.
First off, please download the attached .psd file. You should be able to open this in most art or image editing programs, and inside you will find the art for Gleipnir as well as all of her expressions. Expressions in-game are made by mix-and-matching the eyes, brows, mouth, etc. of a character, as you can see in the .psd, so as you write play around with the different emotions she can show.
For the prompt, I will be asking for Gleipnir's secretary dialogue. That is the dialogue that plays when you tap on your secretary in the lobby, as well as the dialogue for swallowing and digesting the Commander. You can format the writing of each line however you wish, but please also include the expression you would like Gleipnir to have when speaking the line. The format can be something like: (Eyes:Wide, Brow:Angry, Mouth:Yell, Blush).
The lines needed are:
==================================================================
Normal Tap 1: Plays at random when you tap on your secretary when she has no prey.
Normal Tap 2:
Normal Tap 3:
Fed Tap 1: Plays at random when you tap on your secretary while she is digesting prey.
Fed Tap 2:
Fed Tap 3:
Vored Tap 1: Plays at random when you tap on your secretary and she has eaten you.
Vored Tap 2:
Vored Tap 3:
Normal Breast Tap 1:
Normal Breast Tap 2:
Fed Breast Tap 1:
Fed Breast Tap 2:
Vored Breast Tap 1:
Vored Breast Tap 2:
Swallowing Commander: Plays after you let your secretary you.
Digest: Plays out the Commander's digestion. This usually is a short scene, you can look at what's in the game now for reference.
After Digestion: Plays after the Vessel has finished digesting the Commander.
Wake-up: Plays when the Commander wakes up from their dream of being digested.
======================================================================
If you want to include more lines than this, feel free! Just include a comment about when it should play. Additionally, it probably won't come up with the limited art, but just leave a note if you want to include an extra line for the character being at max weight, full capacity, etc. If you write any lines specifically for the Commander being one gender, you must also include a line for them being the opposite one (Just copy paste the thing saying when it will play).
Up ahead, I've included as much relevant info as possible about the character and the setting of VT. Please read through it all carefully before you begin writing. There's way more info than you need to write her dialogue here, so don't feel like you need to touch on everything in her lines, just use it as a basis for her character.
If you have a good idea and want to add or change parts of Gleipnir's lore or personality, that's fine, just leave a note saying what you'd like to do. The goal of this prompt isn't to write her exactly in the way I'm thinking of, just have fun and write her in a way you feel confident in based on this prompt. Finally, I'm certain there are things I'm forgetting, so please let me know if you have any questions!
Lore:
An agent working for the organization "Unison." On paper, Unison acts as a quality control and brand management group with the goal of ensuring that all Vessel manufacturers operate 'as one,' meeting company standards of quality and morals. This is more or less accurate, Unison acts as an ever-watchful eye that tracks Vessel activity across the globe and intervenes any time something which may harm the brand image appears. However, a visit from Unison doesn't involve notes or lawyers or HR, but instead termination with extreme prejudice.
Though anyone may fall within their purview, Unison primarily targets groups using Vessels with criminal intent. While the bulk of Unison's personnel are human, any Vessel that has engaged in criminal activity is deemed defective and must be recalled and disposed of by a qualified technician. This is where Gleipnir and her fellow agents come in, Vessels created with the sole purpose of eliminating their own kind. Gleipnir specializes in tracking, infiltration, and assassination, and is deployed in situations where the target must disappear without a trace. Physically enhanced with bestial traits and cybernetic implants, she is the most elite and powerful agent of Unison, and as such only a few of her have ever been created.
Not once has a Gleipnir unit ever been eaten. Not just because of her combat prowess, but also because she will never engage unless she is sure of her victory. Her weapons of choice complement this, knives with long spools of metal wire contained within the hilt. The blade and wire are able to vibrate at a high-frequency allowing them to cut through most materials with ease, and while this is ineffective against other vessels, by binding her quarry through skilled use of wires Gleipnir is able to decommision them inside her guts without any risk of them fighting back.
As a large part of Gleipnir's job is gathering information, she's used to making friends and charming people to get what she needs. This isn't an act, despite her purpose she is a genuinely friendly and outgoing person. Even while carrying out her duties, she holds no ill will towards those she eliminates and sees it more as a game of hunter and prey.
Personality:
Very self-assured, but not arrogant or boastful. The type of person that always marches to the beat of her own drum, because she's never even considered there's a different beat to march by. As a result, can be quite thick at times and is a bit oblivious to the effect she has on others, both through her appearance and her actions.
Has a cool, charismatic presence. The way she talks to other people can even come across as flirtatious, in a suave sort of way, but she doesn't do it intentionally. Enjoys toying with people as a way of showing affection, but can go too far without realizing it.
Eating others: Will not eat people out of gluttony and does not enjoy eating people for the sake of it. She enjoys the thrill of hunting prey, and sees eating her catch as the natural result of a hunt. She also sees vore as a way of showing affection, and will eat the people she likes as a way of teasing them.
Views eating allies and enemies differently?: Yes
Eating allies: Is generally safe to be around for weaker Vessels, but if she's in a playful mood around someone she likes she may start licking, nibbling, and eventually eating them. Fleeing will only trigger her predatory instincts, so the best way to escape is to redirect her attention.
Eating enemies: Enjoys hunting, but she's not a battle maniac. Instead, she prefers one-sided conflicts where she has the advantage. As such, she's fond of ambushing and binding her prey before eating them.
Being fed by Commander: While she's not gluttonous, she views being fed as an attagirl and enjoys it for that reason.
Being eaten: While she eats others as a way of showing affection, she does not enjoy being eaten herself and will always fight back.
Humans: Sees humans as small and weak. Generally tries to look out for them, but also does not have much respect for them. She did not often work alongside humans in her previous job, and is much more accustomed to the company of Vessels.
Vessels: Very popular with Vessels that have more submissive or preyish personalities, and well-respected by more professional Vessels. She has no reservations about eating others. If another Vessel was eaten by an enemy and she had a choice of either saving them or eating their predator and digesting both, she would eat both just to tease them.
The Commander: Is used to taking orders from human superior officers, but due to her strength and skill has always operated as a lone wolf free to make her own calls during operations. She's amused by the Commander's obvious lack of professionalism or experience and sees them as an interesting person, unlike the boring, corporate types she's used to working for.
Copies of herself: Because she was produced in incredibly small numbers, Gleipnir is not used to interacting with copies of herself and views them as rivals. If a copy of herself is interacting with her friends, she'll get very jealous and may try to eat them.
Sex: Despite appearances, is not preoccupied with sex or romance. Extremely dominant and enjoys toying with her partner. Similar to vore, for her sex is more of a way for her to show affection rather than an act done for personal pleasure, with that show of affection often coming at her partner's "expense."
Eating humans if unfettered: Knows people die when they are killed, so would not eat humans as a playful act. However, she would have no reservations about eating humans she has no connection to during the course of her work.
Gleipnir's personality and views on the world should form the main basis of her character when writing her. These quirks are minor parts of her personality just serve to add some additional detail.
Loves motorcycles and drives them like a madwoman. She yearns for the days when she would burn rubber on the streets of Earth. Sad she can't drive them any more.
Loves petting, nuzzling, and belly rubs.
Does not like having her tail touched. Pushing the issue is a fast track to her digestive tract.
Has a soft spot for small animals. Sheepish around dogs.
Likes people that are kind of pathetic, though her sincere and unfiltered interest can come across as mean-spirited.
Almost impossible to embarrass, though not completely immune.
Her hands and feet have soft pads, enabling her to move soundlessly and manipulate delicate objects.
Characters should never swear unless otherwise advised.
Avoid writing witty dialogue unless the character themselves is trying to be witty in context. This includes stuff like quips, puns, etc.
The writing should be very sincere and not self-deprecating or overly self-aware.
VT takes place in the same universe as FE Fates, in which babies are instantly teleported to another dimension where they grow to adulthood before being teleported back. In other words, no references to minors anywhere.
Each normal secretary line should be expository in some way or express something about the character or their setting. This can range from literal exposition, to showing their relationship to the Commander, etc.
Special touch lines don't need any exposition.
Unless it fits the character, avoid "sexy" dialogue. In general, the goal of the writing should be to be endearing, rather than sexy. Rather than titilating the player, try to express the character's personality.
In the same way, avoid porny dialogue. Generally, do not have characters mention each others' bodies in sexual ways or use vore as a way of obtaining a sexier body. Do not have characters treat Oral Vore as a sexual act.
The word Vore does not exist in-universe and the act is generally not seen as or treated as a fetish.
All characters are bisexual, but they may still have a preference one way or another.
While eating people does cause pleasure, it does not cause sexual pleasure in most cases. For the most part, pretend it's something like Shokugeki no Soma.
In general VT's universe is quite dark, so try to keep the dialogue lighthearted to make up for it without shying away from the game's darker aspects.
Never depict a character in true fear or distress.
Each world in Vessel Tactics except one is based on a genre of fiction. They are:
Commander's Earth - Our world.
Doctor/Vessel's Earth - Alternate history sci-fi where impossible technologies are commonplace in the same vein as Metal Gear or Half-life.
The Frontier - The world where the technology to produce Vessels was found. Post apocalyptic sci-fi similar to Nier Automata or Childhood's End.
Monster Girl World - Your current location. Typical JRPG fantasy in the same style as Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy.
The Commander, the player character, is a human from our Earth. They do not have military training or experience, and are simply the right person in the wrong place.
Doctor Astrid is the only other normal human that will appear in the game. She is a scientist in her late-30's who is one of the people responsible for the creation of Vessels. She disagrees with their use on Earth, and believes they pose an existential threat to humanity. Her sole goal is to return to the Frontier in order to find a way to stop the megacorporation from producing them.
The Frontier is another dimension discovered over a decade ago containing the ruins of an incredibly advanced alien civilization. The technology to produce Vessels was discovered here, along with countless other technologies that have thrust humanity forward into a gilded age.
The megacorporation (Unnamed) funded Astrid's group delving into the Frontier and reverse-engineering the alien technology. Once they smelled money, they brought in a huge amount of personnel to turn a profit on the Frontier technology regardless of the ethics or the danger it might pose to humanity. The megacorp has many branches that each make use of its resources independent from each other.
After the size of the operation in the Frontier increased, Vessel-like lifeforms native to it took notice of humanity and began to attack. As they are no stronger than Vessels and seem to be motivated purely by hunger, fighting them off has not been hugely difficult. Some Vessels are created specifically to fight on the Frontier, while others have simply been brought in and kitted for battle.
The Anomaly is a mysterious event which severed a portion of the Frontier base and sent it to another dimension. Though most human personnel were able to evacuate back to Earth before the event occurred, Dr. Astrid and many Vessels were not. The Commander was also pulled in from a completely separate reality due to the dimensional stuff.
Seeds of Wisdom are red crystals with reality-defying powers that allow the creation of energy from nothing, effortless creation of new life, and travel between dimensions. They appear in massive quantities on the Frontier, and lesser quantities on the Monster Girl Homeworld. It is due to these Seeds' power that Astrid's group was able to create and maintain a gateway to another dimension, as their combined power in the Frontier is that immense. All life created by these Seeds appears female and is capable of vore.
All Vessels have a built-in suppressor preventing them from digesting humans, however it is just a mental block and may be overcome in certain circumstances. The only people aware that it is only a mental block are Doctor Astrid and a few other high-ranking members of the team responsible for creating vessels. The Vessels themselves are not aware of this, and if they become aware of it, it will become much easier for them to break through the block.
Vessels all being attractive women is an inherent trait of their race, not the way they were designed. The process by which Vessels are created was reverse-engineered from alien technology, and humanity still only has a narrow understanding of it.
Likewise, Vessels having the ability to vore people, having strong sexuality, and their willingness to work alongside and serve humanity are inherent to them and cannot be altered. There's a good reason why, but it won't be explained yet.
Vessels and Monster Girls do not have a human sense of morality or self-preservation and are not nearly as bothered by the prospect of "killing" or being "killed." They may be upset at being digested, very upset even, but no more so than one might be after losing a game. They may feel bad about digesting someone, but more as like a faux pas than anything serious.
Vessels and Monster Girls cannot take permanent damage or be killed through normal means. They can still feel pain, hunger, temperature, tiredness, sickness, etc. like normal human beings. Though their limits are higher, if they reach them they will still pass out. Extreme cold, heat, suffocation, etc. will still affect them, though it won't kill them.
Vessels are much physically stronger than humans, as they would need to be to haul around several people in their stomach.
Whether a Vessel ages depends on their mental state. If one feels they should age, on a subconcious level, they will age normally. Vessels can die via normal means if they don't want to live any more.
Vessels are clones based on human DNA. They are treated as androids by their creators, but they are almost fully biological. Vessels have no issue with their treatment, and genuinely enjoy performing the roles they were created for. While being cloned for a predetermined life of toil may sound like it sucks, as creatures that just get kinda miffed at being literally eaten and digested it's no big deal for them.
Vessels do not necessarily enjoy roles they were not created for. Whether they do or not is on a case-by-case basis.
Vessels can share memories with others of the same model, but not thoughts or experiences. Each vessel is aware of which memories are her own, and the process feels natural for them. This process requires close proximity to the other vessel or a vessel creation facility, like the base. There is a delay to this process, and it may require something to be performed, such as sleeping. Memories cannot be transferred through stomach walls. Again, this is an inherent trait of Vessels, but the reason why it occurs will not be explained yet.
Despite being clones and sharing memories, Vessels are each individuals and may have minor differences between them. Vessels can be shaped and changed by their experiences, just like anyone else, and the longer two vessels of the same model are apart the more different they will become. Vessels can have different interpretations of the memories they receive than the one that originally experienced them.
Many of the Vessels in the game are much more intelligent than the Commander and would perform their role better on paper, but in practice their appetite causes them to make poor decisions at the expense of the operation. Same for Monster Girls.
Vessels serve humanity because they want to, but they have no compulsion to. There is nothing stopping them from disobeying orders or harming humans. Vessels have full agency over their own decisions.
Vessels dress the way they want to, whether that's the uniform they were designed to wear or something specially tailored. Clothing and equipment can be synthesized and mass-produced.
As someone from our world, the Commander is trope-savvy, knows about vore, and sees vore as a fetish.
Given that the Vessel Earth is technologically on the level of something like Metal Gear, even without the Frontier's technology, Vessels have few military applications. While they do have superhuman strength and durability, knocking out a Vessel isn't that much more difficult than killing a human, and psychologically they make for poor soldiers. Even then, the cyborg enhancements often given to combat-oriented vessels can also be used by humans, making the difference in strength negligible. The only noteworthy use Vessels have in combat is disposing of other seed-based lifeforms, which is why they are only widely deployed on the Frontier.
