As mentioned a few weeks ago, I am now working on a second game alongside the developer of Vorecade, and I've finally had the chance to start working on the random character system. To explain that, each character in Venus Derby will have the same base torso and head, but their default arm and leg pose, chest and thigh size, face, hair, accessories, color palette, species, and race outfit will all be randomized. Since I already have my hands full wrangling art and designs for VT, I wanted to avoid a similar situation with Venus Derby. By giving it a simpler art style, simpler designs, and a custom character generator, I'm hoping to avoid the hassle while still making something just as good in its own right. The above is the result of 2-3 days of work over the weekend, so I think this thing is looking pretty hopeful!
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the proof of concept in time for this post, but as you can see I'm trying to work out a new artstyle that will be simple, clean, and appealing. Once I finish this base, I will move on to adding different arms and legs, and trying to figure out how to approach this idea in a way that's feasible.
While I'm doing the game design, setting, and art for this game, the vast majority of the work is being done by hmal/slough. While I'll post updates on the art side here, if you want to follow along with the game's development or lend it your support, you can do it here: https://www.patreon.com/c/vorecade
Hmal's been working hard since the announcement, and the game now has a working visual novel system and the game board is underway! You can take a look at the prototypes here:

Thank you so much for all of your support, and I will keep you updated as Venus Derby progresses. Unlike VT, I don't plan on keeping any surprises, so I hope you're looking forward to more horse girl content in the future!
