Hello again everyone, it's been another good week for VT! The new work method I was talking about last week has been working extremely well, and I'm serious when I say that I'm confident that it will continue to do so going forward. I've had plenty of bursts of productivity before, but this is the first time since I started that I have felt like my workflow is so grounded and sustainable.
Enough about that though, how is development going? I have mostly been continuing on cleaning things up, which is also what I've been behind on. What I'm done with includes:
Merging the two separate unit classes
Optimizing saving to be less restrictive of what saveable objects can contain
Removing unit handling from stomachs, stomachs now only handle themselves
Removing most magic numbers (Unique numbers with unclear meaning) from my code
Making more of the game function asynchronously
Turning unnecessary class instances into static/singleton classes
Separating UI/Battle Management objects from maps to reduce future refactoring
Adding a few fun things (See: cat)
I could wrap it up here and get started on adding content for the next update, but since I am feeling so confident about the pace I can set I would prefer to rewrite battles to be phase-based along the lines of Disgaea or FE (I will leave it open to revert later if it's not as fun) and fix the remaining issues with the battle system before adding in any new content. I will be taking a break over the holidays, so there will be no post next Monday, but I may have a small non-VT related surprise for you on Christmas.
