You see a "Licentia QUESTS" ahead.
Added 2023-09-11 07:54:13 +0000 UTCAs I have been thinking the past few months about Licentia, I have wondered to myself: what about a Skyrim modlist makes me excited? What about the base game makes me excited? What, in fact, makes me excited about single-player RPG's at all? And I always arrive at the same answers: Hot people, sexy scenes, and an absolutely insane number of quests in which to roleplay my badass fantasies as best I know how. And I also ask myself: does this makes my users excited as well? And the answer to this question is decidedly "Yes," easily proven by the success of my list.
That said, those of you familiar with my activity on Discord, Patreon, and MEGA over the past few months may be aware that I have a new version of Licentia planned that I have taken to calling Licentia QUESTS. You may not be aware of it at all, or you may have been eagerly anticipating it these many weeks. I knew my suspicions about its popularity were confirmed when I made one small mention of the profile in a TXT file on MEGA and almost immediately started getting questions about it. So without further ado: it pleases me to announce that I have decided to pause all of my other responsibilities (school, household chores, what little social life I have) and work on Licentia QUESTS in earnest in order to meet the promised deadline: my birthday (September 24).
The goal is a deliberate throwback to the QUESTS lists of old... and I want to achieve the following objectives:
1. Every major quest and follower mod from both Legacy of the Dragonborn and the major LOTD Expansion Hall of the Forgotten.
2. Large, frequently-requested and NSFW aligned quest mods such as Maids II, Maelstrom, and There Is No Umbra.
3. An update of the full OStim suite to the newest OStim Standalone, with all the new animations.
4. The same spellsword focused gameplay with an emphasis on fast action, huge perk trees, massive spell lists, and tons of ways to be a total wrecking ball.
5. Simple instructions to switch the list from modest armor and outfits to extremely revealing armor and outfits.
This time, rather than winging it completely, I want to explicitly involve **YOU** in the development of this heavily user-focused list. Are there massive difficult-to-implement mods that you have always wanted to see in Licentia, or fell in love with in other lists that you always felt Licentia was lacking? Is there something about the look of the list, the game balance, or the way Licentia plays that feels "off" to you? Do you prefer one of the alternate Licentia profiles, like COMBAT or NEEDS, and what is it about that profile that you most enjoy? During this two week design process, I want you to email me at cacophony-wj@outlook.com with **YOUR** suggestions on how you would make the list better. Anything not completely terrible or ill-advised will receive serious consideration.
Finally, it pains me to admit this, but due to health concerns and lack of opportunity in my rural home, modding has become my job and one of my primary sources of income. I can't devote as much time to the creation of Licentia QUESTS without moral and financial encouragement to do so. It is not that I am devoid of other means of support... but my subscriptions have taken a huge hit after the Patreon "declined charges" fuckup, loss of interest due to lack of updates, as well as the twin releases of Baldur's Gate III and Starfield. Anything you can provide will not so much keep me out of poverty as reduce the overall stressors I must deal with on a daily basis due to budgetary concerns. If you can find it in your heart, please stop by https://cacophony.me and offer a small tip for my services via the methods available to you there. Small, concrete acts of appreciation like this, along with healthy doses of inadequacy and guilt, are the primary emotions that keep me going in what I do.
Now for a status report: I have begun a full xEdit review of the current Licentia BLACK as of two weeks ago and plan to release Licentia QUESTS in stages. I am committed to checking every conflict, no matter how benign or unimportant, an extremely tedious process which involves hundreds of thousands of "records" (or minor changes to the game). My immediate goal is to have an updated version of Licentia BLACK released by the end of next week, which will include updates to all of the significant mods and the rest of the xEdit review. Your willingness to test and comment on these revisions will likely be as helpful (if not more so) than financial contributions. When I am confident no long term bugs have arisen from the process, I will start the endeavor to transform the list into QUESTS -- an even more tedious process which will involve compacting ESPs into ESPFEs, complex merges, manually editing navmeshes, more than a small amount of work in the Creation Kit, and a lot of new stuff I have been hesitant to try before because of how annoying it is. Please bear with me as this project begins, offer your support when and however you can, and thank you for taking the time to read this message.

It also really needs work on the character visuals and environment visuals - BOTOX is the only rework I'm aware of and that has requirements that are kind of a pain to use alongside other replacers.

2023-09-11 21:56:08 +0000 UTCI'm a so torn about MAIDS 2. It starts out strong. The intro is interesting. The damsel in distress character is likeable and well acted. The cart ride scene in particular has a really good choice/consequence progression. Then after that it becomes an exercise in emotional masochism. I'd advise putting a warning in the Licentia Read Me that the "good ending" for MAIDS 2 is to not progress the story past when the Ward joins the PC's household. Everything after that is purposefully frustrating and heartbreaking. It's a great mod for villain playthroughs, or for players that like tragedies, but for anyone who wants to be a heroic character, MAIDS 2 isn't a fun experience.
