Buffy The Vampire Slayer 5x1

I'm so sorry for the widescreen, I didn't realize at all. It'll be 4:3 next time!

I mean you don't remember how frightened she was when Joyce lost it in Gingerbread? Or how she wanted Ted to be her new dad? How she was there for her mom when Buffy ran away in Anne?

Bud Haven

Oh it's cool to know that they referenced a lot to the original novel! And I also didn't know Stephen King's reference, that's cool to know!

Vic

...huh?

Vic

Merci, c'est trop gentil!

Vic

Yes I am quite confused lol

Vic

Oh I didn't know it was with the myth! Makes a lot more sense and really makes me want to read the book now!

Vic

Confused me is

Vic

...what

Vic

Oh really? I have the 4:3 version now, but glad ot know it wouldn't have been to bad

Vic

...I don't know what's happening

Vic

I would actually like if you keep watching the widescreen version, it has a better image quality than 4:3 previous seasons

I can't believe you've forgotten Buffy has a sister. I know we don't hear about her very often. I think the first time is s01e13, when we see her sitting in the audience during the school play that the monkey demons attacked.

Bud Haven

Oh, in other news, the Widescreen vs 4:3 thing is a much bigger deal in Angel than it is in Buffy. A lot of practical effects that you aren't supposed to be able to see are present in the Angel episodes, and a lot of boom mics hanging out in both shows. But honestly it's not the end of the world if you stick with widescreen, as long as their complete failure to weed out any technical shenanigans doesn't ruin your immersion.

Ever since Buffy's sister had that dumb puppy love plot with the Anointed One they've had her taking a back seat, but I really don't know why that seems to make reactors forget about her entirely.

The sister has been there since season 1. She hasn't shown up much, but there was that time where she sort of caught Angel in Buffy's room. I think that was early or late season 1. Buffy had to bribe her to keep her mouth shut. It's sort of implied that the mother had to send her away to live with the father in order to focus on Buffy after she started getting into trouble with Principal Snyder. Writers felt that having her in the show would distract too much from the stories they wanted to tell with Buffy and the gang, but the writers missed the high school levity from the early seasons while writing season 4, so they brought back the sister to fill in that void.

I've been looking forward to this one, and this season, I'm glad you liked season 4 but it's my least favourite even though it has some great episodes. About why Xander ate bugs and other stuff, it's a Dracula trope, you should read the novel, it's a great book and you'll learn where some vampire tropes come from, Stoker did not invent them all but he made them popular.

You’re going to see a lot of trolls 🧌 in your comments don’t pay attention the show will explain

Tu devrais parler français plus souvent, c'est tellement mignon quand tu le fais.

Fun fact: Willow says: "Dracula's 'modus operandi' (a Latin term) is different from other vampires". This is a Latin phrase meaning "mode of operation". In criminal law, it refers to a pattern of criminal behavior. Often, policemen or detectives in TV shows refer to a criminal's "MO". Spike says: "No, the Count has to have his luxury estate, his bug-eaters, and his special dirt, doesn't he?". This all stems from the 1897 'Dracula' novel, by Bram Stoker. Castle Dracula is his vast Transylvanian residence. Renfield is Count Dracula's deranged, fanatically devoted servant, who eats insects (hence why Xander does this). And Dracula needs the dirt of his home country to remain healthy. He transports many boxes of Transylvanian earth, to each of his residences in London, UK (hence him transporting it to Sunnydale at the beginning). This episode owes much to Stephen King's novel Salem's Lot (1975), such as a centuries-old vampire being delivered in his coffin via a truck to a small town, and the trap of the missing stairs into the basement. Joss Whedon has stated Salem's Lot was one of the inspirations for the Buffy TV series in general. I tried to tell you to watch it. the actor that plays Dracula(Rudolf Martin) played SMG's boyfriend in All My Children(1994–1995) where she won an Emmy

Jon Mackay

I didn't get that either

Jon Mackay

Wait, you're confused about Buffy having a sister? Uh, hello—how could you forget about her?! She's been here the whole time!
