Logline: A young girl, Nema, with the help of a large half-man/half-monster creature, travels to a mystical land in her dreams in search of her
missing Father.

[NEMA]
Lead Female (11)
11-year-old Nema lives in a lighthouse with her father, PETER, who has taught her how to sail. Sadly, Peter dies one night during a storm at sea. Nema is sent to live with her estranged uncle PHILIP, who is dull and nothing like Peter. Nema discovers a world called “Slumberland” in her dreams. She encounters FLIP, a creature who claims to have been an outlaw
with Peter years ago, stealing things from other peoples’ dreams. Nema decides to go on an adventure with Flip when he claims to know a way that she can wish for her father back.

[FLIP]
Supporting Male
“Nine-foot-tall creature -- half-man, half-beast, with shaggy fur and long curved tusks.” Flip claims to have been an outlaw with Peter years ago, stealing things from other peoples’ dreams. Flip says that he has been unable to find his way out of dream world
for years. Nema decides to go on an adventure with Flip, who claims to know a way that she can wish for her dad back. Eventually, Nema learns that Flip is the dream version of Phil. When Peter moved away, Phil was sad and he stopped dreaming, which trapped Flip in the world of sleep.

Supporting Male (40)
“Nice haircut, expensive suit.” After Peter dies, Nema is sent to live with her estranged uncle Philip, who is dull and nothing like her dad. Phil does his best to make Nema happy and comfortable. Eventually, Nema learns that Flip is the dream
version of Phil. When Peter moved away, Phil was sad and he stopped dreaming, which trapped Flip in the world of sleep.

Supporting Female (11)
“A big, tough-looking girl.” On Nema’s first day at her new school, she gets teamed up with a girl named Anya. Anya shows Nema the ropes and they become friends. Nema lies to Anya, saying that her dad is away on a trip.

[PETER]
Supporting Male (35 - 45)
“Scruffy beard… a rugged guy, and a gentle one.” Nema lives in a lighthouse with her father, Peter, who has taught her how to sail. Peter loves Nema very much and he encourages her imagination. Sadly, Peter dies one night during a storm at sea.

[Ms. Cardoza]
Supporting Female (30 - 40)
Ms. Cardoza is the psychiatrist at Nema’s new school. She sits down with Nema and Philip to discuss loss and grief. Cardoza keeps an eye on Nema and eventually has to suspend her for forging her uncle’s signature and sleeping at school.

Supporting (40 - 50)
Two dream cops, AGENT BLACK (“short and fat”) and BROWN (“tall and skinny”), pursue Nema and Flip as they travel through other people’s dreams. Eventually they catch our heroes and lock them in jail cells.

“Cheesy.” Phil hires CHAS to take Nema out for a sailboat lesson. While sailing, Nema grows upset about her dad.

Cameo Female (30 - 40) Asian
“Dowdy, a little shy.” Nema and Flip enter the dream of a woman named Diane. In her dream, Diane is the Salsa Queen of Havana.

[Derek]
Cameo Male (30 - 40)
“Pudgy.” Nema and Flip enter the dream of Derek, a pudgy and anxious office worker, who has no pants on in the office.

[MIDNIGHT RIDER]
Cameo Male (5)
“Funny-looking.” Nema and Flip enter the dream of a boy who envisions himself as “The Midnight Rider”, the baddest long haul trucker on the highway.
