YOSHIKO;

[ YOSHIKO ]
character portrayed is late 30s-early 40s, Japanese, female. Born and raised in Japan, Yoshiko is passionate and driven. She moves to Ohio after college to study baseball management against her parents’ wishes. Though she becomes an accountant and has a family, her love of baseball never fades, and she dedicates a decade of her life to creating a baseball league for women. When the league falls apart, she discovers the sacrifices her parents made to make her dream come true. Speaks fluent English but Japanese is her first language. Though not an elite athlete she is sturdy and has some skill. Some experience playing baseball a plus, so please indicate if an actor has played baseball or softball and in what capacity. LEAD. [ KAZUKO ]
character portrayed is late 30s-early 40s, Japanese, female. A supportive and loyal friend to Yoshiko, Kazuko is a dedicated member of Yoshiko’s baseball league when not working at a local midwestern grocery store. CIELLA;

[ CIELLA ]
character portrayed as 15-22 years old, Central American, athletic, female. Having lost her arm at age 7, CIELLA has learned to do everything from riding a bike to climbing trees with one arm. When violence erupts in her home country, she illegally crosses to Los Angeles, where she joins her sister to live at the estate of a rich Reagan-loving Beverly Hills housewife. After striking up an unlikely friendship, the housewife buys CIELLA a prosthetic arm (with the wrong complexion). Though her sister warns her to be grateful for the generous gift, CIELLA hates the arm and avoids using it whenever she can. CHARACTER IS A UNILATERAL ARM AMPUTEE, Spanish language skills a plus
