I'm relatively sure I'm done with my upcoming slave liberation mod. Some parts of it were easier than I expected (having Melody and Siri react to whether the player is an enemy of the Legion), others were harder than I expected (The women with the backpacks), and some were exactly as annoying as I expected them to be (splicing together some audio for Melody, given the relative lack of dialogue lines for children in the base game.)
Regardless, I've playtested it a few times, and while there were a few hiccups along the way, all seems functional. At this point, I'm only waiting for some third-party bugtesters to give it a run, and if they have no complaints, I'll post the thing on nexus.
I don't want to pat myself on the back overmuch, but I think this is going to be the definitive FNV abolition mod. It's not buggy like the original one, and it doesn't rely on the extremely polarizing "AI" voice lines like the newer one. Not only will the player be able to free Siri, Melody, and the unnamed slaves with backpacks, but they will also be able to release all four gladiator slaves that they could fight in the base game. Once released, every single one of them will spawn in relevant vanilla locations, and each one will have fully voiced dialogue, spliced together with vanilla lines fairly seamlessly. (And if, for some reason, you download a slave-freeing mod but also want to fight in the gladiator arena and kill some of the poor bastards, you can still do that. Weirdo.)
I look forward to releasing it, whereupon I'll get right back to work on Lacie. Thank you all for the continued support, and remember, the existence of "safe roads" does not justify the abomination that is chattel slavery.
