Great reaction! And a good reminder. It's been many many years since I saw this, and my husband and I both through to ourselves that perhaps we need to learn how to have more fun in life. Tom Hanks is a versatile actor. Three movies of his that I think you two would enjoy: Castaway (supporting cast with Helen Hunt), drama Dragnet (with Dan Akroyd, based on the police show Dragnet), comedy You've Got Mail (With Meg Ryan and Dave Chapelle (supporting)), rom-com, and it's not too sappy either. I think Jay would be ok with it. This is also based on the original b&w movie, The Shop Around the Corner, which is delightful. This has some nostaglia for me since this is how my husband and I met.
