Upcoming

For those asking about Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, it will be up on Monday! Also we will be putting a poll up soon for film friday, what are you guys hoping to see on there?

Comments

Jerry Maguire is a great selection! Definitely hits a a bunch of notes for both of them.

Fomsie

Jerry Maguire. Sports for Jay. Rom-com for Amber.

JDW

Hey guys. I just thought i'd mention the movie "Radio." Based on a true story. With Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris. This is a fantastic film. Have your tissues ready. I hope you give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The real Radio " James Kennedy " Who sadly passed away in Dec of 2019 at 72. This was such a heartwarming story. You'll laugh, get angry, cheer, and for sure cry. Cuba Goodings finest acting films, in my opinion. Best wishes. Ron

Ron Galiazzo

Legends of the Fall is fantastic! One of Brad Pitt's best roles. Another great choice is Second Hand Lions.

Fomsie

I meant The Last of the Mohicans

Shannon R.

I second Mr. holland’s Opus and The Last of the Monica’s. I would also add Braveheart, Gladiator, and Legends of the Fall.

Shannon R.

Hello J and Amber! Some films I both think you would enjoy, and that I would like to see your review would be the following: Unforgiven (Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman in one of the best Westerns ever) Mr. Holland's Opus (The story of a young music teacher who plans to spend all his "free time" writing music, but life has other plans. Can't recommend this one enough) For Love of the Game (A Kevin Costner baseball film with a romance angle! You guys should love it!) Good Will Hunting (Robin Williams and Matt Damon, fantastic film) Last of the Mohicans (An epic tale set during the French Indian War, Daniel Day Lewis is amazing, one of the greatest films of all time) Alien (The Original. Sigorney Weaver is amazing in the suspense/horror film that started the franchise) Enjoy your Valentine's Day! ~Foms

Fomsie

Now when you have reacted to Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You on your music channel, I`m sure so many of us want you guys to react to the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves very soon! It was actually one of my requested movies in this Upcoming poll when it was uploaded ten days ago, so really hoping I will get my wish! All though the song er very romantic, and Robin/Marian is a great romance I may suggest watching this movie in the nearest days instead. Today you should finally see "Sleepless in Seattle starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Valentine`s Day is an important day in this movie, and of course you`re gonna love this movie. Happy Valentine`s Day!

Endre Snildal

The Big Lebowski, I beg of you!!

Ronda Borgen

Army of Darkness? It's terrible, but very funny in my opinion.

Unfitwheel5

Would recommend - Last of the Mohicans A Few Good Men True Lies No Way Out Message in a Bottle Silence of the Lambs Saving Private Ryan Unforgiven Million Dollar Baby Braveheart GoodFellas Jurassic Park

Wendy

The idea of Jay and Amber reacting to They Live is kinda hilarious, to me.

Brian

I will hardly shame you. I actually dislike The Notebook. But I am quite familiar with it, and due to my job, have had to watch it a few more times than I ever cared to. Calling out the similar romantic feature would spoil both films, so I won't go into that. But if sappy Nicholas Sparks adaptations are you're thing, you might enjoy it. And I always like watching James Garner and Ryan Gosling do their thing, even if I'm not so keen on the movie itself.

Robert Greffey

Jerry Maguire, a film with Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger, combines both romance and lots of sports emphasis (football)! It would fit two criteria.

Deb Ralston

Don't shame me. I've never seen The Notebook.

G Faith Owens EA

A valentine's day movie or a sports movie. I think you guys would love all the great sports movies out there. And it'd be cool to see you react to movies that came out within the last 10 years too though I love watching the classics too. Also just a suggestion, but ever think about tagging your movies? Even with genre or collection (like all the LOTR movies together or HP)? As time goes on it might be hard to find things in the future without any tags.

Danielle

First Blood is extremely pop-culturally relevant; it's style & pacing changed action & suspense cinema forever, as it's been emulated countless times in other films like 'The Fugitive', 'Total Recall', and 'Speed' (just to name a few on your list). Also, it's another dynamite performance by Stallone, as a stoic soldier who will melt your heart by the end.

Monty

As for the point, I guess I'm just expressing that I think the film gets some undeserved hate from folks who expect it to be like every other movie with knights in shining armor. It is not Excalibur or Braveheart, or even Ladyhawk. And it isn't trying to. Personally, I thought it was awesome and bold that someone made a sports movie about medieval knights. But yeah, I have friends and co-workers (I actually first watched this in a professional capacity) who did not get it, or refused to give it a fair shake on it's own terms because it's not the kind of movie they wanted to see.

Robert Greffey

Totally agree. These three series would be my priority as well before thinking of all the other great francises to begin with later!

Endre Snildal

Feel good TRUE story - October Sky with Jake Gyllenhaal

SA 'Baz' Collins

You know? When I wrote them, I thought maybe but I figured better safe than sorry.

Amy Silknitter

Amy: You should check out that they all ready have done Ghost and Edward Scissorhands. I like all the movies on your list though. My picks would be that they start with Good Will Hunting and Se7en first!

Endre Snildal

So happy to see someone actually recommend Frailty. I actually thought about doing that myself yesterday, but it`s such a hidden gem that I was afraid if I suggested this movie, it wouldn`t get enough notice from other paterons in here to back up the suggestion. But I definitely want them to check it out, because it will make an memorable impression on them for sure! Please guys, vote for this one.

Endre Snildal

I genuinly like the movie. I don't get your point. Or did you just wanted to tell me that your friends didn't get the movie?

LarsGrimm

YES i can’t wait for the order of the phoenix reaction ❤️🌝

Latifah M.

Wouldn’t allow me to edit them in, so I’m adding a couple more. Sister act: Schindler‘s list (about the holocaust); twins; kindergarten cop (original with Arnold Schwarzenegger); and the fugitive.

Mary Alice

Regarding "Rear Window": On various "All time best movie" lists, it's placed at 13th, 23rd, 37th, 39th, 42nd etc.... (https://www.thegreatestfilms.com/Film/1954/Rear-Window). But it's NOT "Worthy, but boring"... It's funny, suspenseful, has great dialogue, and is incredibly entertaining.

Greg H. G.

Point Break (1991) - Crime / Action Sin City - Action City of God - Crime / Action / Drama . This one is a "hard" movie and in my opinion, overlooked (maybe due to the fact it's not in English)

lvl20Dad

Frequency; Some kind of Wonderful; Mamma Mia; Air Force One; The Bucket List; West Side Story (original one first); My Big Fat Greek Wedding; Mask (early Cher); Calendar Girls; Enchanted; UP!; Sleeping With the Enemy (suspense); Cujo; Rear Window and Singing in the Rain to name quite a few. 😁

Mary Alice

You have GOT to watch Frequency!!!!!

Mary Alice

I agree. Forgot he directed it.

Kevin

Frailty is a nice little hidden gem. But not only does it star Bill Paxton, but he was also the director. Pretty good for a first feature film.

Robert Greffey

For upcoming polls and/or reactions: Good Feb/Valentine's Day-type movies: - Moonstruck (1987) - Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) - Return to Me (2000) - 50 First Dates (2004) Fun/Music/Dance/Fantasy: - Xanadu (1980) - Footloose (1984) - Sister Act (1992) - Heart and Souls (1993) Dramedy/Mystery/Romance/Fantasy: - Always (1989) - Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) - Meet Joe Black (1998) - Pleasantville (1998) Action/Comedy/Adventure/Fantasy: - Big Trouble in Little China (1986) - Willow (1988) - True Lies (1994) - Men in Black (1997)

EmberCello

Either that or Strictly Ballroom.

Kevin

I’d like to see you guys get your mind melted by the movie Frailty. It has the late Bill Paxton, Powers Boothe and Matthew McConaughey. It’s an homage to Hitchcock where a single dad wakes up his children in the middle of the night and says he received a message from god to kill demons. You have to find out if the message was real or imagined.

Kevin

Maybe a classics poll like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Maltese Falcon stuff like that.? Or do some movies suggested by songs you have liked such as Arthur (Christopher Cross) or Beaches (Bette Midler sings Wind Beneath my Wings) this is a real tearjerker but great movie, Xanadu (Olivia Newton John). Super Bowl coming for Jay a great football movie from the 1970s North Dallas Forty. Or maybe something from the master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock like Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho, or The Man Who Knew too much (Doris Day)

Geoff Thomas

In honor of Black History month, I would suggest Hidden Figures. Its about 3 black women's important roles at NASA when the US was trying to get into space for the first time. Great story, great movie, and great cast.

Jayce

I love the Hunger Games franchise. In fact, I'm watching it right now lol!

Jayce

I have more than a few friends who love just about any sword and sorcery fantasy or medieval action garbage anyone ever throws on a screen, but who HATE A Knight's Tale. I think it's a failure on their part to accept the movie for what it is, and not what they want it to be. Which is some big dramatic epic with a huge symphonic score. And it's not. It's a sports movie. The sport is jousting, which isn't crazy popular with the kids these days. Or the last few centuries worth of kids. But that's what it is, and when you embrace it on that level, not a bad sports film at that. And as much as my nerd buddies may complain, the Queen, David Bowie, and other pop-rock needle drops make good sense in that context.

Robert Greffey

Yay! Someone else finally giving The Full Monty some love. Been suggesting that myself, and have decided that really do need to see The Squad watch that.

Robert Greffey

Bram Stocker's Dracula to me is the all time favorite love story. For Valentine's day. Vladd is eternally in love with his wife who is reincarnated in miss Mina. Do the one with Keanu Reeves( Matrix) Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins( Silence of the Lambs) and Winona Ryder. Action love, horror a whole package. A must watch at my house for Valentine's day.

Lisa Rhodes

I know. I just keep mentioning it. It is one of my "Top 10", so ... 😉

Angela Warton

I have 5 suggestions: 1). A Knight's Tale (Really good film with Heath Ledger) 2). Jumaniji (The Original with Robin Williams) 3). Bohemian Rhapsody 4). Star Wars - Episode 1 5). Django Unchained (It has a great story with a love factor and such a great cast with likes of Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio)

LarsGrimm

Real Genius-The first "Big Bang theory" with Val Kilmer, Oh and I will say it again "Dune"

William Wolfe

She's out of my League, and The Full Monty, for action similar to Diehard, try Leathal Weapon with Mel Gibson. They made like 4 or 5 of them

Mark

Fifth Element!

Liz Hernandez

The Beatles’ HELP!

Peyton Royals

He got an Oscar for that? I could see the diving movie he did (Men of Honor, had to IMDB it) but Jerry MacGuire? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE him in Jerry MacGuire, just wouldn’t have thought it Òscar worthy.

Amy Silknitter

Love The Replacements

Amy Silknitter

The Fugitive A Few Good Men Air Force One A time to kill How to Lose a guy in 10 Days Good Will Hunting Castaway Twister Ghost Se7en Knives Out Edward Scissorhands Titanic Ocean’s 11 (2001) The Mummy & The Mummy Returns Apollo 13 Clue Best In Show Speed

Amy Silknitter

Also I think I should get to pick the Valentine’s Day movie since it’s also my birthday. 😁 I suggest The Notebook.

Stephanie Wahl

50 First Dates is adorable. If they ever did it, I'd probably end up posting my egg-heady thoughts about parallels it shares with the much more dramatic The Notebook in the comments section. 🤔

Robert Greffey

Definitely. Gladiator is tops in so many ways.

Kristin D

I think you should do a drama since you’ve been doing a lot of fantasy & comedy lately. Memento, Million Dollar Baby, Dead Poet’s Society, Rain Man, Good Will Hunting

Stephanie Wahl

There was enough good drama in Gladiator for it to take home a best picture Oscar, but I think the action is a big draw for that title as well. Epic action movie. But then again, action is always best served by being surrounded by good drama so you're invested in it.

Robert Greffey

They're going to need to do this sooner or later, but it made an unfortunately poor showing in the recent sci-fi poll. 😢

Robert Greffey

Amadeus - so nice I recommended it twice. I've been pitching Amadeus for a good Oscar weekend watch, and a solid drama anytime but... it is a very musical movie, so don't mind shamelessly throwing it in that category for an extra plug.

Robert Greffey

Old yeller, some like it hot, arsenic and old lace, you e got mail, while you were sleeping, Steele magnolias, that thing you do

Dawn

They should probably watch Firefly before Serenity, which would be fun. But I'm not sure they are doing tv shows.

Kristin D

Princess Mononoke would be food too!

Kristin D

Clayton Johnson

I would love to see you guys react to one of the movies that are really big for new reactions lately. Either one of the murder mystery movies, Knives Out or The Glass Onion. Or fantastic action movie like, Bullet Train.

Kimberly Jenkins

they need to get back to Star Wars and watch the prequels when they finish Harry Potter and im surprised they never followed through with the sequels to BTTF and Indy they both knew there were sequels when i revisited their reactions to the originals it just meant that there are PLENTY of distractions when viewing movies for the first time

Karl Kraus

50 first Dates is adorable. I think they like Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore too. I would love to see their reaction!

Kristin D

I'll continue to love just about any sci-fi you throw into the mix. But I do have some other thoughts: RomCom: Splash, Ten Things I Hate About You, 50 First Dates Action/Adventure: True Lies, Any of the rest of the Die Hard franchise, Face/Off Drama: On Golden Pond, Sleeping with the Enemy, Good Will Hunting

G Faith Owens EA

Apollo 13 , Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and That Thing You Do !(This is a Tom Hanks film about a music group in the 1960's, or maybe late 50's...a fun movie with a soundtrack you will love).

Cheryl

I was absolutely prepared to continue to support my buddy Robert on This is Spinal Tap. Then!! He went and threw Amadeus in the mix....guys!! I LOVED Amadeus.

G Faith Owens EA

Original Karate Kid

Mike Hartley

Sci-fi (knowing you just did sci-fi): Fifth Element (I would love to see your reaction specifically) Drama: Gladiator Comedy: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Rom-Com: French Kiss (my husband and I both love this, it's not a sappy romance)

Kristin D

If you haven't seen them yet Hungers Game Series Greatest Showman Rent Hairspray Indiana Jones Series Pirates of the Caribbean series The MCU

Zach Faulkner

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!

Kristin D

Apollo 13, Fifth Element, Star Wars Prequels, Taken 1, 2, 3

Lynsey

...or maybe, take the time to knock out one of those classics everyone says you "have" to see. Like a poll with Casablanca, The Godfather, and Rear WIndow or Veritgo.

Robert Greffey

Gladiator would be a great reaction!

Kristin D

Robin Hood: Prince of Theives

Lynsey

Replacements would be a lot of fun!

Kristin D

Close Encounters of the Third Kind for next film Friday please! 🙏🙏🙏 Watching ET means you HAVE to watch this movie its a movie about wonder and mystery I HIGHLY recommend it! For other in-between movies, put these Black History favorites of mine in polls: Glory, Amistad, Glory Road (basketball movie about an all-black starting five national championship team) and Lincoln And Gladiator needs to be viewed ASAP as well! It's turned into a classic!

Karl Kraus

Grumpy Old Men! -comedy Castaway-drama Tom Hanks Footloose- classic 80’s!! Jerry maguire- comedy/drama, sports The Butler-historical drama

Sharon Crews

Actually, with the Superbowl coming up, maybe a football movie. The Longst Yard (original 1974 version, please) or The Replacements might be a good choice.

Robert Greffey

We just did sci-fi, so I'll hold back on those suggestions, and I'll just keep plugging some I've made before, and hopefully sometime they'll gain some traction. Comedy: The Full Monty Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Drama: Amadeus Rain Man Thriller: Seven The Usual Suspects Music: This Is Spinal Tap Amadeus Action: Mad Max: Fury Road First Blood

Robert Greffey

Kinda surprised they haven't already.

Robert Greffey

I did a personal top 5 for various genres. Got nothing better to do with these frigid days of winter here in Minnesota😂! Sci-Fi: Blade Runner (The Final Cut Version) The Fifth Element Dune (The new one from 2021) Contact Close Encounters of The Third Kind Drama: Spotlight (It's about the abuse scandals that rocked the Catholic Church in the early 2000s) The Killing Fields (Great movie, but it is about the genocide in Cambodia during the late 70s and early 80s) The Promise (This is an underrated movie about the Armenian Genocide that took place during WWI) Hostiles In The Name Of The Father (Great movie that is also based on a true story about an Irish man, his friends, and his father who were framed for crimes they never committed) Mystery: The Usual Suspects The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo (2011 version) Gone Girl Prisoners Murder On The Orient Express (2017 version) War: The Hurt Locker Zero Dark Thirty 12 Strong 1917 Dunkirk Action: Sicario (2015) The Gray Man Gladiator (if you can find the extended version, it is amazing! Otherwise theatrical version works too) Braveheart V for Vendetta Fantasy: Stardust Willow The Old Guard Dragonslayer The Shape of Water Sports: Slapshot Miracle The Natural Hoosiers The Fighter

Troy

"Charade" Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn some comedy and romance as they solve a thriller. Timeless movie.

Carolyn Phelan

I hope you will ask us what sequels you all ready have started you should continue with before you begin with a completley new francise. My suggestion for that poll: Back to the Future II and III Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Episode II and III) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom + Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (No hurry with number 4). Die Hard 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance (That`s Nr. 3. No need to go further for time beeing). A popular trend is to watch movies with actors you recently have watched. A great genre for this is romantic comedies. Recommend this Poll: Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) Sleepless in Seattle (Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan) 4 Weddings and a Funeral (Andie MacDowell from Groundhog Day) As Good as it Gets (Jack Nicholson) If you don`t go for this genre, I hope to see you react to these movies with these actors: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Richard Dreyfuss from Jaws and Stand by Me. You also should see American Graffiti with him some time as well). Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves (Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman and Alan Rickman from Die Hard and Harry Potter) True Lies (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jaime Lee Curtis) Teen Wolf (Michael J. Fox from Back to the Future in a werewolf/basketball comedy)!

Endre Snildal

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Please put Jerry Maguire on a poll. Something for both of you. Sports. Romance. Cuba Gooding Jr earning an Oscar.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure would be fun

Jon

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a fun and weirdly inspirational movie that I haven't seen many reactions of, even though it's very fun/good for reactions, in my opinion!

Onno Smits

Gene Wilder is always fun to watch: Stir Crazy w/ Richard Pryor, Hanky Panky w Gilda Radner, Start the Revolution without Me w/ Donald Sutherland

Chryss Guiler

Set It Off, Menace 2 Society, Juice, Poetic Justice, Above The Rim, American Gangster, Purple Rain, The Jackson: An American Dream

Sydney Kelly

Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a great two combo package that would set the channel apart. And if you are feeling creative and Indie you would watch El Mariachi before both.

Andrew Ramos

I agree with another poster that Contact with Jodie Foster is an incredible movie. Also Castaway with Tom Hanks, Ford vs. Ferrari, Goodfellas

Julia

I love the Game. Secondhand Lions is really good, as well - I think they'd like it too.

Brian

The Godfather, The Hunt For Red October, Wedding Crashers, Coming To America (1988), Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. 1 epic drama, 1 action, 3 silly comedies.

Michael Downie

Falling down is a great one!

Andrew Ramos
