(EARLY ACCESS YT EDIT) HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (2007) | FIRST TIME WATCHING | MOVIE REACTION

Comments

Started reading as soon as Sorcerer's Stone was released, then I read them again as soon as I saw the last film. I'm holding off until we finish the movies with Jay and Amber, then I'm going back for a re-read after almost twelve years. Also looking forward to playing Hogwarts Legacy which was just released.

BRT

I've yet to make it to Universal since the installation of the Wizarding World. Dying to get there and visit Olivander's for the wand experience.

BRT

With that knowledge, the bit about Crouch, the insect and Nevile becomes really disturbing.

BRT

Can't wait for the last 3 for your reactions. My mom and I watch your reaction together on Saturday when I am at their house, because we both love Harry Potter and you guys discovering new music/movies. As a side note: I took care of their dogs when they went out west on a 2 week trip. I accidentally left my youtube logged in on their tv and that's how they started watching you guys on your music reactions channel. Before then they just did not understand how fun reaction channels can be. Now both my parents are hooked. Lol

We spend more time there than we do Disney when we go. My family, who aren't keen on Harry Potter, for some strange reason, they all think we are rather odd because they just love Disney. My favorite part is Knockturn Alley. I always want to buy up most of the merchandise in Borgin and Burkes.

Zoe

I explained that bit about Barty Crouch to my mom who loves the movies but hasn't made it far in the books as she is not much of a reader. When I broke down what happened to Neville's parents and how Crouch, as Moody, made him watch the spider get tortured the way his parents were, she was SO upset on Neville's behalf.

Zoe

Exactly Dumbledore is the one wizard Voldemort always feared, from the moment they first met Hermione said this in the very first movie in the sixth book it's said WHY that is

Karl Kraus

Dumbledore is the most powerful wizard. You shouldn’t worry about him. As far as Voldemort is concerned.

So you are really into the thick of it now. Personal story time: I used to have a rule in my life. I would not start reading any books in a series until the entire run had been published. I saw all the fan attention and knew this series was huge, but I didn't read any of them. I wanted to avoid the torment of waiting for the next book. I confided this information to my best friend, who promptly gifted me books 1-5 that year for Christmas. So I thought I'll just see what it's all about. I read book one in two days and from there it was a binge until I finished all five. And then I became part of the masses waiting not so patiently for the next book to be published. The only good part of that was I could continue to start over and re-read the books.

Fun fact the actress who played Luna was in a long relationship with the actor who played young James

There are also Veritas potions

Love the reaction. Reasons why I like this movie: we get to meet Luna, Dumbledore’s Army, and the kids learning to defend themselves, The Weasley‘s exit from Hogwarts (they never go back to the school), Harry, saving Mr. Weasley’s life, watching on bridge, being taken away by the centers. Learning more about Snape and James Potter and their relationship. By the way, Grawp, is Hagrid’s brother, Hagrid is a half giant. The reason why I don’t like this movie:Unbridgeable torturing students, Mr. Weasley being attacked (JK Rowling said that she considered killing Mr. Weasley but she could not do it), Dumbledore, ignoring, Harry, meeting, Umbridge, and, of course, top of the list Sirius’ death. As someone else explained, Percy Weasley, instead of believing, Harry Potter and Dumbledore, took the side of the ministry and the minister of magic. It caused a rift in the Weasley family. As other people have mentioned. It just gets darker and darker.

Mary Alice

Every time I see Luna Lovegood, I seem to end up humming that tune by Classics IV, "Spooky". But I guess I've always had a thing for the spooky chicks. It's nice to finally see her show up in the films. Oh, and you should do that song on your music reaction channel, BTW. It's groovy. It's also fun to get some more of the Snape layers peeled back. I previously had a hunch about some history with Snape and the Potters, and this is the film that convinced me I was right. So much so that when a later big reveal comes along, I wasn't shocked. Made perfect sense if you had paid attention. Nice work from Alan Rickman playing the subtext just enough to make that work.

Can you guys please watch the movie “Dodgeball” … an epic sports movie!!!!

John DelVecchio

I like all the movies, some more than others. #5 I thought was one of the better adapted ones. There were some fun parts of the books that they missed though, like when Vernon was calling the Dementors Dementoids. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to Umbridge and her meddling at Hogwarts. As mentioned above, yes, James and the maurauders bullied Snape, which was not cool. Snape also was up to no good and no saint himself, it kinda got spread around. Lupin, in the 3rd book, said that Snape came to Hogwarts knowing the most curses of any new student. Also, don't forget how poorly he treats Harry, specifically. When the books were being published, that was a big topic: Snape's bullying of Harry. Tidbit: JK Rowling said that her patronus would be otter, same as Hermiones (not by accident),

Kristin D

Excellent recap. Also, Harry told the twins that in order to the have the winnings, they had to buy Ron new dress robes. :D

Kristin D

The Ministry wasn't going to do anything to confirm Harry's story because they weren't ready to deal with Voldemort being back. Showing Harry's memories would do just that.

Kristin D

Oh I needed this. No more holidays on HP film Friday lol. I really don’t know what I’m gonna look forward to after this series finishes. Universal is amazing. Went there last year no kids as a 43 year old and loved it. Now that my Luca is here I gotta wait 10 years or so till he can get into this world. Can’t wait for the half-blood prince

Matt Brodzinski

Definitely next vacation , you need to go to Universal Studio's park to Wizardly Kingdom. Harry Potter Land. The last three get more intense. The wicked black haired lady you hate her laugh - Helena Bonham Carter( was married to Tim Burton) plays in a lot of movies ( live version of Alice in Wonderland you might have seen her in as Queen of hearts) Emma Thompson played the teacher with long hair and glasses that was getting cast out .( Sbil Trailawney)

Lisa Rhodes

Great reaction! Whitney Houston shirt is 🔥 🔥 🔥

Carter Rowe

I think the sixth book answered that Fudge will probably say that the memories of Harry are false since well... you know I'll keep quiet on the rest as not to spoil the next movie

Karl Kraus

What I don't get about this is, that there are spells to extract memories and show them to other people. They could have done this during Harry's trial, AND to show Voldemort returned and killed Cedric.

Pannath

So, something that isn't really said in the movies about Snape and James Potter is that they hated each other. The Marauders were a bit like troublemakers in the school, were a bit like the Weasley twins in a way, became illegal animagi to keep Lupin's company when he turned into a werewolf, etc. And Snape was one to try to get them caught. Snape wasn't a saint himself. Luna is super sweet. It's pretty sad to realize that she's getting bullied by other kids. Since she's a bit 'weird' and oblivious, people hide her stuff around. But it's good to see that she's found friends who accept her and like her for who she is; Ginny, Neville and Harry most of all.

Miss_CJ

I love Ginny's reaction to when Hermione says to Harry "Cho [Chang] couldn't take her eyes of you, could she!" Ginny's absolutely horrified, lol!

Monty

Yes! This is a contender for being my favorite!

J.Fro90

So excited you now have seen my top 5 characters (in no order Hermione Luna Dobby Bellatrix(she's sooo easy to hate) Snape then Tonks(not Nymphadora lol) Lupin and the twins after them

Lacey K D

You may have liked this one just as much as the others but the book gives SO MUCH more context and information. - Harry's relationship with the Dursleys is fleshed out more. For instance, Petunia is found to have more insight of the Wizarding world than first believed of her character. She got an owl from Dumbledore (although not known at the time by readers), meaning she's hiding something. Plus, Dudley seems to open up more with Harry now that he was saved by magic. - Sirius being cooped up in his old house takes its toll on him. Since he's still a wanted man, he can't do anything actionable for the Order. It brings back the haunts of growing up in a pure-blood Slytherin family. Furthermore, he suffers something like a "Mid-life crisis", longing for the glory days with his best friends, especially James. As you saw in the fight sequence in the Ministry, Sirius called Harry "James". Since he looks just like James, Harry gives off an illusion that James is right beside him duelling, just like in the First War. - As someone already pointed out, James and Snape were at each other's throats all throughout school. James and Sirius were the chief tormentors. Lupin wanted nothing to do with it but he never once tried stopping the antics. We never got the clear reason WHY they always fought until the last book, so stay tuned on that! In fact, we shockingly learn that Lily, Harry's mother, wasn't real chummy with James that much at one point because of this bickering. So, more things to wonder here. - We actually get to visit the hospital where Neville's parents are permanently patients at. Neville and his grandmother head there for Christmas. It evolves Neville's character in such a way that he really is a Gryffindor more than once believed. He sees shells of the people that gave him life and is brave to repeatedly visit them. Instead of knowing that your parents are gone but at peace, they're alive but forever twisted into shrouds of despair. By the way, it was Barty CROUCH (not COUCH) Jr. along with Bellatrix Lestrange that used the Cruciatus Curse to scar the Longbottoms. They did this to gain information on what happened to Voldemort. - The prophecy is discussed plenty more than it was in the movie. The voice you heard inside the crystal ball was from Professor Trelawney, Sibyll (the woman who got fired by Umbridge). It was orated by her during an interview with Dumbledore. The interview was for the post of Divination professor. The reciting is at its fullest in the book. For all of it, pick up the book and see for yourself. Plus, the prophecy had some real consequences but you need to keep watching and/or read the books for more information. Trelawney's prediction from Prisoner of Azkaban wasn't the first prophecy she ever said out loud. In fact, she's the great-great-granddaughter of a Seer, a person can see into the future. So, Trelawney wasn't a lunatic eccentric teacher. She had REAL power and skills. - The budding romance between Harry and Cho is explored WAY deeper. Long story short, it didn't work out. They had mixed feelings about their triangle with Cedric, being co-teammates in Dumbledore's Army, etc. It was a big mess. - All of the Weasleys had Harry's back in the media outcry except one member: Percy, Ron's brother. He was prefect in Harry's first two years. After graduating, he took a job as Fudge's chief assistant. He and his family then developed a rift between them, especially his mother, Molly. You should've seen him walking around with Fudge everywhere even when Dumbledore was trying to be arrested. The Weasley's had their difficult lives made more so because of Percy's choices when siding with the Ministry and ambition. - Fred and George were able to create these candies and goodies because of one thing: Harry's winnings from the Triwizard Tournament. Harry didn't care for the prize money so he gave it all to the twins. So, their mischief and hijinx finally have somewhere to thrive: entrepreneurship. This info, along with other tidbits, are all in 870 pages of the fifth book, the longest of the seven. So, again, when you get the chance, read all of them. You won't be disappointed. Love you guys! See you in the next HP reaction! (and others)
