YT EDIT THE OUTSIDERS (1983)| FIRST TIME WATCHING | MOVIE REACTION

Great book, great movie. Glad you enjoyed it. Next up, try My Bodyguard, with Adam Baldwin, Chris Makepeace, Joan Cusack, and Matt Dillon (Dally in The Outsiders). It's fantastic. 🥰

Jocelyn Haeberle

I remember reading this book as a teenager and it was the first novel that really made me cry. A sort of sequel written by S.E. Hinton is “That Was Then This Is Now”.

Sharon Larkin

That would be helpful

Elizabeth Franco

Fun fact: the nurse who was tending to Dallas in the hospital was author S.E. Hinton herself.

Casey Salley

I feel it necessary to warn them that Where the Red Fern Grows is good, but super sad. Read that as a youngster, traumatized me for life, along with Old Yeller, Watership Down, Bless the Beasts and the Children... I wish I could've read Harry Potter as a child....

Kristin D

Yes Crossroads, and Highlander

Michael J Paulus

I grew up in Oklahoma, and the book was required reading. It’s a great movie; I enjoyed your reaction to it. I’ve seen others recommend Where the Red Fern Grows, which is also a great book and movie!

Janell

That’s a great movie!

Since Jay and Amber like Ralph Macchio in this and recognice him from My Couisin Vinny and of course The Karate Kid, it would be natural to remind them to do The Karate Kid Part II. But no hurry in doing all 4 to then begin the Cobra Kai tv series for 51 episodes! Please don`t prioritize this path anytime soon at least ... Part II and III is okay this year. However, I`m still going to continue recommending his lead as a blues guitar-player (and classical) in the movie "Crossroads". Ever since it was decided by you to make a movie channel as well, I`ve been waiting for alot more music related movie reactions, but it`s often gets overlooked. Crossroads is not an accurate true story though, but at least it`s based on the story of Robert Johnson as parts of this storyline, and looking so much forward to especially the reaction towards the ending! As for a poll suggestion: Please make a poll of biografical movies of music legends you haven`t seen. Speaking for myself, but I do belive that what the people want who also loves your music reactions is that this is a great way for you to learn more about the life of artits you`re reacted to. For example Aretha Franklin, Buddy Holly, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury (Queen), James Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Ricthie Valens, Tina Turner and alot more as well I`ve seen that you hopefully will get the chance to watch yourself in the future one at a time.

Another movie about Oklahoma is "Far and Away" starring Tom Cruise and Nichole Kidman. Its about claiming land during the Oklahoma Land Run. Directed by Ron Howard, who directed Apollo 13. Ron Howard makes great movies!

Jayce

I know, They were talking about what other movies cast members of the Outsiders were in, that they had seen.

John DelVecchio

Did that

Elizabeth Franco

It’s hard to believe this movie is 40 years old. To put things in perspective, when this movie came out, if you went back forty years earlier it would have been 1943. Can you imagine? Those of us who are Gen X, we grew up with a lot of TV shows and movies romanticizing the 1950s and early 1960s pre-Beatles. There was this 50s nostalgia which began in the 1970s with Grease, Sha Na Na (Google them), Happy Days, American Graffiti, sock hops, etc. A lot of it obscured much of what was really happening and it wasn’t all happy days for everyone, but compared to modern times, it was a much more innocent time. The Outsiders kind of stripped away a lot of the marketing and packaging seen in previous movies. It showed the kids and teenagers who normally didn’t get featured back then. Coppola presented a more realistic picture and made a classic film.

where The Red fern Grows A Classic!!

ali schmidt

This was the movie that launched so many careers. Most of the cast was unknown at the time. Matt Dillon was a rising star and the resident “bad boy” back then. He mostly mumbled through a lot of his early roles and seemed to be channeling Brando and Stallone, but the dude could always act. He’s gotten better over the years and he was really good in “Tex” and “Rumble Fish”.

“August: Osage County” is another Oklahoma based movie, with a great ensemble cast…including the G.O.A.T Meryl Streep.

Patty Estrada

I agree. I don’t mind the random polls, but it would be nice to have polls that are sometimes more cohesive (genres, directors, actors, etc.), so that other movies get a chance.

Patty Estrada

Yes, I recommended this one a while back. Hope they see your suggestion.

Patty Estrada

Emilio Esteves “Breakfast Club”

John DelVecchio

I wish you guys would do genres for your polls . A lot of movies get lost because it is mixed in with so many other suggestions. Yes Red Dawn is a great one to watch with the late Patrick Swyaze. (Dirty Dancing), Point Break with Keanu Reeves , Brams Stoker Dracula or John Wick , with Keanu Reeves. Rock Star, Air Heads with Brandon Fraiser, Adam Sandler and Steve Buechemi all I know you love Amber.

Lisa Rhodes

Well now that you’ve introduced a Francis Ford Coppola movie on the channel, we need some more. Specifically “The Godfather”…there’s also “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and “Apocalypse Now

Patty Estrada

I always get teary eyed when Dallas says "Let's do it for Johnny !"

Kristi Green

please react to The Hobbit

Next Rumble Fish and Tex

I cried at this part to

Elizabeth Franco

You guys need to see Red Dawn with Patrick Swayzee and The Young Guns movies with Emilio Estevez

Elizabeth Franco

You’ve seen Estevez in The Breakfast Club

Elizabeth Franco

Emilio Estevez is the son famed actor Martin Sheen and brother of actor Charlie Sheen

The man from Over Board is Kurt Russel aka Wyatt Earp.

"Only two things come from Oklahoma!" I had forgotten this film was one of them. The other must be great movie reaction channel content. 😁 Because most folks today only know the 1950's and 60's through the highly sanitized depiction of the time allowed by the movies and TV of the day, it tends to get portrayed (for good or ill) in a very idealized and wholesome fashion. Perhaps it's also some effects of nostalgia, as I see the times I grew up in depicted in broad strokes and easy stereotypes. So as a young guy in the 80's when this came out, seeing life from the point of view of the disadvantaged and troubled youth as protagonists of a story was a little eye opening. Somewhere out there I just know some film nerds in your audience are shaking their fists that this is your first Francis Ford Coppola directed film instead of The Godfather, but it's all good by me as this is a solid flick. But... if you liked his work here, you should really check out his take on the mafia. Coppola also had a talent for casting back in the day, and like the Godfather, this film had many actors who eventually went on to have legendary careers. Oh, and since I started this with the “Only two things come from Oklahoma” gag, I guess I'll suggest the film I first heard that particular setup for an insult. You should watch “An Officer and a Gentleman”, an often overlooked film from about the same time. On your music channel reaction to Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes “Up Where We Belong” you went for a lyrics-only version for the video as to not spoil anything about the movie, so... you should watch the movie! The song's okay, but the movie is great.

Robert Greffey

Yes Where the Red Fern Grows is a book and film

Elizabeth Franco

Based on the now classic novel by SE Hinton who also wrote Rumble Fish and Tex the next two films you need to see after this one. Also don’t forget to finish The Karate Kid film series

Elizabeth Franco

Great Movie with an outstanding young cast. This was assigned reading when i was in school. Very good adaptation to the book. Looking forward to seeing how many of the actors you recognize.

Christopher Puttre

This is an awesome movie. Stay Golden!! Epic!!

Leonard

So glad y’all did this one. Make sure to watch August: Osage County for another great Oklahoma based movie.
