RSR Family This Film / Rockumentary was HILARIOUS! Thank you all for suggesting this awhile back it was great!

Comments

It looks like you are watching with a delay. I am completely synced with your video, but you react about 3 seconds late to everything. It's really hard to keep up.

Todd Rush

Spinal Tap actually released an album called “break like the wind “ and it was pretty good with one video called B***ch school. Definitely not PC.

Doug Sailer

The bassist Derek Smalls was played by Harry Shearer, who's career began when he was initially cast as Eddie Hascal in Leave It To Beaver when he was a kid. Outside of Spinal Tap he is best known for voicing about half of the characters on the Simpsons (the ones who are not voiced by Hank Azaria). Guest, McKeane, and Shearer, when touring as Spinal Tap, used to open for themselves as The Folksmen, a trio of aging folk singers, a la the Kingston Trio. In 2003 The Folksmen appeared in the Christopher Guest film A Mighty Wind, about a television concert featuring performances by several popular (but fictitious) folk groups from the 1960s. "Tap" was famously unscripted, with general plot outlines and improved scenes. It was later followed up by a series of "mockumentary" films directed by Guest, from Waiting For Guffman (1996), Best In Show (2003), the aforementioned A Mighty Wind (2003), For Your Consideration (2006) and Mascots (2016). All of these are worth watching, but Best In Show and Mighty Wind especially so.

At first by your reactions I thought you may be thinking this is a real band documentary.

I began playing rock and roll in 1964, and occasionally shared a stage with R&R greats (and still get pulled out of retirement for bizarro gigs). I took my 12-year-old son to see this when it first showed in theaters. He got the silly jokes (you can't dust for vomit) and I spent the ride home explaining the specific references to actual R&R shenanigans. The closer to the music business you are, the faster and more detailed the jokes become. This "insider" movie mocks the idiocy of The Last Waltz (Rob Reiner's naval cap and character name) and every other movie which takes rock music seriously, and brought that to a general public.

You guys please watch The Commitments! It’s so cool!

Elizabeth Franco

Yes, definitely check out “Rockstar” with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston.

Patty Estrada

Do -Rock STAR or AIR HEADS WITH Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi and Brandon Fraser.

Lisa Rhodes

The style is called “Mockumentary” which satirizes its subject…so yes Jordan, it’s meant to be funny 👍🏼. One of my favorite mockumentaries is “Best In Show” (it satirizes dog shows and the people who enter them). The cast is great (includes Nigel from this movie), and most of the dialogue was improvised, definitely check it out. There’s also “What We Do In The Shadows”, which satirizes vampires.

Patty Estrada

Yes another for Detroit Rock City . - You need to watch it what would you do to see Kiss.

Lisa Rhodes

Yes, another vote for Detroit Rock City. I sent them the DVD a while back, hoping they’d watch it once they had their movie reaction channel.

Patty Estrada

I’m finding your reactions more entertaining than the movie

Elizabeth Franco

Hopefully Detroit Rock City is next!

Andrew Ramos

I’m dying 😆😆The first guy you saw was tv film actor and director Rob Reiner you saw his films Stand by Me, The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally. The blonde lead David is played by Michael McKean you need to watch him in Best of Show and A Mighty Wind.

Elizabeth Franco

Thank you whoever suggested this movie!

Elizabeth Franco

These same actors have made so many funny films: Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind are just a few you might like.
