2023-02-26 21:09:22 +0000 UTCI’m glad you guys are gonna watch Spaceballs. I loved that movie as a kid and watched it during many sleepovers. Another one we always used to get is a comedy called The Money Pit, starring Tom Hanks. As a 3rd grader, I thought it was the funniest movie I’d ever seen. As far as this poll, it’s a tie between Rudy and Steel Magnolias. Rudy would be a good sports movie for Jay and Amber I think will like Steel Magnolias. And I think both of you will enjoy Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias! You just might need a comedy like Spaceballs first 😊❤️

2023-02-26 16:13:08 +0000 UTCMaximum Over Drive would be good Jay Likes ACDC, Bachelor Party with a young Tom Hanks very funny . Revenge of the Nerds good one two but Jay and Amber were in sports in college Like them to see Animal House . The scary movies they wouldn't get because they don't watch scary movies so they wouldn't understand them.

2023-02-25 01:24:26 +0000 UTCEveryone should watch Bond. Would be an awesome series to cover. Can see the evolution of the character and film in general over the last 60 years. Best film franchise ever.

2023-02-24 16:43:17 +0000 UTCGladiator's a good one, I cannot lie. In fact, a reaction I eagerly look forward to them making someday, as I think they would enjoy it. Well deserving of it's 12 nominations and 5 Oscar wins. And judging from what the YouTube algorithm puts on my page, popular with movie reaction channels. I'm sure it'd make a strong showing if not clean up on votes for any poll it might land on. So I guess I see it as something a bit more inevitable. So forgive me for pitching for the underdog. Both flicks would probably get me posting some history nerd facts here, so pick either at your own peril. 😊 And like Chandra, perhaps a little nostalgia influences my preference. Ever since I saw Star Wars, I was fascinated about how movies were made, but by the time I was 14, was just becoming educated in the language of film enough to understand the power of the cinematic arts. The outstanding acting, cinematography, editing and directing just blew my young cinephile head clean off. Most seem to point to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest as director Milos Foreman's best film, but I think Amadeus was his masterpiece.

2023-02-24 05:22:23 +0000 UTCIMO the best romantic comedy surrounding a sport is The Cutting Edge. A spoiled figure skater has to find a new partner and no one will work with her but an injured hockey player and she is his only chance of getting back on the ice.

2023-02-23 23:07:24 +0000 UTCPlease anything but more Chevy Chase. Especially National Lampoon Vacation 😂
Kyle Hopkins
2023-02-23 12:34:05 +0000 UTCBoth were great. I think some music tied movies would serve Rob Squad also. Like Lady Sings The Blues. The Five Heart Beats, Original Sparkle. Cadillac Records , Dreamgirls. The Jackson’s and American Story. So many.

2023-02-23 12:32:52 +0000 UTCAmadeus would be an excellent choice.

2023-02-23 02:00:27 +0000 UTCAll great movies, But it is time for a laugh, and Vacation, a franchise you are familiar with would be a great choice. This one started them all, and introduced the world to the Griswold family. Sit back and enjoy their trek to Wally World

2023-02-23 00:59:40 +0000 UTCNot that I'm usually prone to defending National Lampoon's Vacation (it didn't get my vote, after all), but certainly think it's aged better than the likes of Airplane. Or just about any Mel Brooks movie. But it's also less a parody, which helps. I certainly think nostalgia tends to make folks of its time overrate it more than a little. But I also think it ties into just enough timeless humor to be an enjoyable watch. Family vacation disasters are cross generational and relatable. My biggest stumbling block is Chevy Chase, who I find thoroughly unfunny. Which may be part of why it gets more of my respect than love as it managed to work despite him as the lead. But when you have a John Hughes screenplay directed by Harold Ramis, things work out after all.
Robert Greffey
2023-02-23 00:14:09 +0000 UTCVacation will likely win but yeah, by those names (I'd forgotten most of em lol) I would definitely pick that over the other two remaining. JMHO, mind...

2023-02-22 21:21:44 +0000 UTCAll good movies, but my vote had to go to Rudy. It's a sports movie for Jay plus as good of an underdog story as you'll ever find, not to mention the never give up on your dreams plotline. Personally, I'm fueling up my ship for the return to that galaxy far, far away.
Joanie Archetto
2023-02-22 18:24:37 +0000 UTCAgreed. Too many jokes don't survive the years in between the film and now, like Airplane. It's sorta like "You had to be there."

2023-02-22 18:20:11 +0000 UTCSteal Magnolias has all those legends, Sally Field, Shirley McClain, Oympia Dukakis, Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, and Daryl Hannah. I love this movie! If it does not win this week, I hope you react to it soon.

2023-02-21 22:52:41 +0000 UTC“Vacation” is one of those that we tend to remember being better than it actually is. If it’s part of your personal nostalgia, then it’s a pretty good experience … but without a years old connection to it and simply just watching it for the first time 2023, it’s meh.

2023-02-21 21:32:24 +0000 UTCGetting the entire HP series has been awesome! I agree the newest ones.. ehh. They just had trouble from all angles like public opinion, internally who was working on it, ppl getting fired, and other drama etc. (You nailed it by saying it was a cash search) But the cash they did make they put towards making more content in the Mando series, Bobba Fett, the animation series and more. So at least it wasn't for nothing. I also favor the first three but I love all Star Wars has ever offered. Same goes for LOTR, Marvel, DC etc. Who doesn't love a world created by imagination that allows you to immerse yourself into it's stunning lore?

2023-02-21 20:19:21 +0000 UTCI love Amadeus. I was only about 10 when I saw it in the 80’s. Still a favorite to this day.

2023-02-21 18:53:18 +0000 UTCNO so many excellent movies out there classic you really need to touch on. Steal Magnolas is a excellent movie . Around Easter i watch it it starts at Easter then ends at Easter.Iconic women actors. Young Guns same great Male cast. Rudy I am sure Jay has already watched and be honest it was bad. National Lampoons Vacation you seen one you kinda have the same story line for all of them. The first one does have Anthony Michael Hall and John Candy. I really wish you would expand your selection on movies. Classics like To Kill a Mocking Bird, Gone With the Wind, The Wizard Of Oz ( Yes Jay it has meaning) Even the musical one you choose . Flashdance was horrible in the ratings. Yes great sound track but bad story line. Hairspray would have been a better story line of segregation not just color but weight to . Dance and great soundtrack based on on late 50's and early 60's. Do History Like Alive yes I mentioned this movie a lot because it really happened it isn't a documentry . Sports Rugby Team crashing in the Andes's in 1972. As teachers you would think you would want to learn some history.I know Amber has been wanting to watch Steel Magnolias.more classics Fried Green Tomatoes , Terms of Endearment. Do you both choose these selections or just one of you?

2023-02-21 18:05:47 +0000 UTCAmadeus is great. My Oscar pick, only because it's one of my top 10 movies, is Gladiator.
Kristin D
2023-02-21 16:44:14 +0000 UTCMade my vote. So with nothing more meaningful to add, I'll just take the opportunity to pitch Amadeus for a good pick for the upcoming Oscar weekend. I'd say to tie in that Falco song for the music channel, but you've done it already. Which is all the more reason you should see the much better film that inspired it.
Robert Greffey
2023-02-21 15:30:16 +0000 UTCI would like to see more diversity in your selections. The only Black actor to star in any of your films is Eddie Murphy .There are other great movies directed and starring Black actors.
Kyle Hopkins
2023-02-21 14:17:43 +0000 UTCI'm old school and prefer the original 3 the best. The prequels were ok, definitely good parts in them, and I just couldn't get into the sequels. They felt like "the search for more cash." BUT I know loads of people enjoy them, so after me getting all the HP movies, I'm glad the SW fans will get their day.
Kristin D
2023-02-21 13:42:20 +0000 UTCAll picks are good, but I'm always up for a good comedy and I think J and A will thoroughly enjoy NL Vacation. Plus with the ending of HP and Star Wars returning, some levity would be good.
Kristin D
2023-02-21 13:39:57 +0000 UTCAnother tough choice, but in the end I picked Rudy just to give Jay a sports movie. And it has a good story that Amber would appreciate. Steel Magnolias would have been my second choice. I'll echo some comments above that I'd like to see The Color Purple thrown in the mix. But you know I'll be here watching and cheering whatever you pick.

2023-02-21 10:05:00 +0000 UTCAlthough these are great movies I have to say that 'Pan's Labyrinth' It's 1944 and the Allies have invaded Nazi-held Europe. In Spain, a troop of soldiers are sent to a remote forest to flush out the rebels. They are led by Capitan Vidal, a murdering sadist, and with him are his new wife Carmen and her daughter from a previous marriage, 11-year-old Ofelia. Ofelia witnesses her stepfather's sadistic brutality and is drawn into Pan's Labyrinth, a magical world of mythical beings, I really wish you would pick.

2023-02-21 08:40:37 +0000 UTCI do understand without them needing to say it that they want to be a popular culture channel and not a black culture channel but February just seems like the opportunity to address a big chunk of popular culture from "Cotton Comes to Harlem", "Sweetback", "Shaft", "Foxy Brown" "Dolomite", "Heat of The Night" "Carmen", "Malcolm X" "Vernon Johns Story" "Mississippi Burning" "Soul of the Game" "Candyman" "Last Dragon" "Ali" "Posse" "Color Purple"

2023-02-21 07:02:56 +0000 UTCThey’re all good movies but I think you guys need some comedy after the Harry Potter series so I picked National Lampoons Vacation. You really can’t go wrong with any on your poll list though.

2023-02-21 06:09:49 +0000 UTCDon't forget the Star Wars saga they still haven't completed; two of the greatest franchises of all time i'm real excited for them getting to back to it Return of the Jedi was way back in September this is overdue

2023-02-21 06:05:49 +0000 UTCStar Wars as a whole (all NINE movies, not just the first six) goes up there with LOTR in my opinion both stories are inspiring and legendary LOTR gets more notoriety because of the production scale and relative devotion to the books

2023-02-21 06:01:05 +0000 UTCI'm disappointed about the black history movies getting snubbed too i really wanted them to see Glory and Amistad Jordan has definitely seen Rudy but not Amber like she showed Back to the Future to Jordan he can do the same for Rudy

2023-02-21 05:59:03 +0000 UTCI hope Steel Magnolias wins; great movie & it's based on a true story. I alo hope ya'll continue with the Wizarding world in the near future with the Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them movies.

2023-02-21 03:36:56 +0000 UTCStar Wars is great you guys. They all have there issues regardless if you are talking about a single movie or in groups as they came out. But as a fan I believe most of the criticism to be a bit much. They all captivated me and have amazing actors. Can’t wait to see y’all react to them!

2023-02-21 03:23:04 +0000 UTCShoot! I want Steel Magnolias and Rudy, I don’t know what to choose. I just watched Steel Magnolias yesterday, and as always I wind up in a puddle of tears. Such a great story played out by great actors, and it’s funny as well (for a drama). But I also really want Jordan to watch (or better yet rewatch) Rudy, now that you appreciate the art of film making a little more. It’ll be cool for both of you to watch Sean Astin (who plays Sam in LOTR) in another role. Sure it’s a sports movie, but I think Amber would really like it too, it’s a story of perseverance. Ugh another Sophie’s Choice for me lol. Maybe y’all can categorize the movies differently, make the polls a little more cohesive….it’ll give certain movies more chances to win. You've reacted to a couple of comedies lately, be nice to get a little more drama next. Also, I really wish you would react to Titanic while it’s celebrating its 25th anniversary.

2023-02-21 03:05:14 +0000 UTC“Brian’s Song” the original is a better film. Another one I would suggest is “To Sir, With Love” with the late, great Sidney Poitier.

2023-02-21 03:04:28 +0000 UTCI worked in the video store business from 1990-2000. In the early 1990s we had a manager who would play this movie in-store every day. Every. Freaking. Day. It got so bad that I used to be able to quote it back to front. LOL That being said, it’s not a bad movie. In fact, it’s quite good. Julia Roberts in one of her first movie roles and she looks so beautiful.

2023-02-21 02:53:36 +0000 UTCAll are good movies depending on what kind of movie you want to see. I voted for steel magnolias because it’s one of my favorite movies but it’s not a comedy by any stretch of the imagination although there are lots and lots of funny parts. I just watched the color purple again and that’s something that I would highly recommend if you haven’t seen it already. The bucket list is also another really good movie with Morgan Freeman, and Jack Nicholson. But frankly, no matter what movie you choose, I love all your reactions so like it, no matter what ends up winning.

2023-02-21 02:50:10 +0000 UTCAgree, not the best movie, they’ve already seen that with LOTR, but the most famous movie of all time for sure. It’s amazing that anyone alive hasn’t seen it

2023-02-21 02:49:01 +0000 UTCI'm a little disappointed that you didn't take advantage of February to either go heavy rom com focused or go Black History-focused. I understand that rom coms aren't Jordan's thing and you don't want to be a black focused channel but February is a great chance to explore some really important films. I picked Steel Magnolias only because I suspect Jordan has seen Rudy but if he hasn't I'm going to change it. Rudy is a must-see for any football fan.

2023-02-21 02:48:07 +0000 UTCI would not call 'The Wizard of Oz the greatest movie ever. The flying monkeys scared me. However the movie is on the most see before watching Spaceballs.

2023-02-21 02:32:22 +0000 UTCFirst of all, THANK YOU FOR SAYING YOU'LL BE HEADED BACK TO STAR WARS! I've been looking forward to that for a long time! Now, you'll get to see the full picture of Anakin's rise and fall I can't wait to share the rest of my all time favorite story with you guys! Second of all, it's high time you get to see Rudy Amber. You may not like football that much but watch it for Jordan. It might lose according to the latest poll results but somewhere down the line, check it out. Third of all, American Graffiti is fantastic! I bet you picked it because of your music reaction fans said it has an electric soundtrack! That it does! The writing and editing is top notch too. A bonus is George Lucas directed this while in the early stages of creating Star Wars. Plus, his writing and directing got nominated for Oscars so this movie put him on the map. You will enjoy this flick immensely!
