The commander of Fort Wagner burying Shaw in the common grave with his soldiers was most likely meant as an insult, as usually an officers body would be returned or at least receive honors for their death. Neither was provided. A movement started in the north pushing for Shaw's body to be returned, but his parents squashed the idea, with his father writing "We would not have his body removed from where it lies surrounded by his brave and devoted soldiers....We can imagine no holier place than that in which he lies, among his brave and devoted followers, nor wish for him better company – what a body-guard he has!" Its incredibly accurate in its story of the first all black regiment in the history of the United States. Really rough to watch, but impotant to watch and learn its importance in American history. I agree the eyes and heart r flooding out. Thanx so much, many Blessings
