The Hunger Games is another series you could possibly react to

nycDawn

you really need to get into the Marvel Cinematic Universe next. Also, the Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

BlueEyedRaven

Jay and Amber! It was a privilege to see you fall in love with these characters. When they starting making the movies, JK Rowling had only written 4 of the books - so no one knew where the story was going and all of the actors wanted to know what was going to happen. Alan Rickman kept a diary for decades. After he passed, the British daily newspaper The Guardian published excerpts from his diary which show that he wanted to leave the role and had told his agent to get him out of "HP" ! He said that he did not want to return to play the character as he felt that it was ‘nothing more than an unchanging costume’. In order to convince him to stick with it, JK Rowling gave him a hint on where Snape's story was going. Alan was the only actor to whom JK Rowling said anything about any of the story to come - and he kept the secret. After Mr. Rickman passed away in 2016, JK Rowling revealed what she told him to keep him as Snape. She told him about Snape’s love for Lily and what the word “always” meant. “I told Alan what lies behind the word ‘always,’” she wrote. Fast forward to a diary entry in 2007, and he wrote: "This was a genuine rite of passage," Rickman continued. "One small piece of information from Jo Rowling seven years ago – Snape loved Lily – gave me a cliff edge to hang on to." Truly the most complicated, deeply feeling character in my opinion. What a thrill it has been to watch J & A take this journey - one so many of us took years ago and which stays with us ALWAYS.

dont know if anyone mentioned this but when harry shows up at hogwarts and minerva steps between harry and snape, youll notice snape only casts defensive spells, and deflects two of minerva's attacks to the two death eaters behind him, effectively taking them out before he leaves himself. in the half blood prince he does something similar by just deflecting harrys attacks instead of attacking him himself. snape was an asshole, yes. he also joined voldemort by his own choice. i havent read the books since they came out, so i dont remember if it mentions it, but my theory is he joined them because he was broken hearted over losing lily to james, then love brought him back to the good side when the love of his life was put at risk. and while he may have ended up caring for harry at the end, he definitely saw james in him, which i can see as well. he may not have been a bully like james, but he was cocky at times and was a disruption to classes, and was often seen as a celebrity or the star of the show. im sure that brought up traumatic memories for him and manifested in hostility towards the son of who was essentially his 'enemy'. but you can see the change, if you pay attention, when snape starts to soften up to him with certain things. anywho, ive loved your harry potter reactions and was dying to watch this as soon as possible so i subbed just for this last film. didnt disappoint. cant wait to see what you react to next. i hope you take a gander at some korean films. there are a few i think youll love. even some dramas. anywho, have a wonderful day.

Looking for a new saga to watch I recommend the Marvel Cinematic Universe which actually connects multiple franchises together to create 1 saga. We are currently in the 2nd saga right now. The first saga was the Infinity Saga. The 2nd saga we are currently in is the Multiverse Saga. You should also watch them in the order they came out (including the Disney+ TV Shows and TV specials once you get to Saga 2) to even though some are prequels. Also, always watch the entire credits. They always have mid and end credit scenes. Also, Marvel films are surprisingly very emotional films as well.

The Snape memory montage scene is one of my favorite film reveals, to be honest. It re-contextualizes so much of what you thought you saw and knew form earlier in the films. Really, for me it's up there with the Keyser Söze reveal montage in The Usual Suspects. Perhaps more impactful that it's so heart wrenching.

Ah, so nice to talk and not worry about spoilers. Especially regarding Snape, who I liked from the start. Even when I was sure he was up to no good. Alan Rickman did a great job playing subtext for those eight movies. I never read the books (yeah, sorry HP nerds, I'm one of those people), but I got a job with Warner Home Media just before this film came out. Needless to say, this series was much in demand so I would spend whole work days doing nothing but watching the first 7 Harry Potter movies. You start to notice some things... Like no matter how frequently Snape would talk smack to Harry about his dad, and throw him major shade, he never, EVER, said anything unkind about his mother. Really, Snape was unkind, but couldn't find it in him to toss in a spare “yo mama” line too? I found it a weird omission. And most certainly a deliberate choice, which got me thinking that perhaps there was something about Lily to Snape. So when we finally got to see movie 8, and the big reveal about his history, I thought it made perfect sense. I'm sure you'll revisit those earlier movies again, and watching Rickman's performance throughout is just treat knowing his full character arc. A pretentious, stuffy, dour pain in the ass, but I love him so. For some reason, I always liked Longbottom as one of the side characters, so was pretty stoked he got an awesome hero moment. And feel robbed the films didn't have more time for some Neville and Luna story. I'm sure their adorable together. Probably more of that in those books my wife says I should read...

Once you see the rest of the original six Star Wars movies, I hope you'll rank the saga up there with this series and the Lord of the Rings you don't know the whole story yet you haven't cried the tears that I and my fellow SW fans have when we first saw the prequels it all became clear when Episode lll was released in 2005 Anakin Skywalker's rise and fall is a sad story to see unfold and that makes his redemption in Return of the Jedi that more meaningful You'll love the prequels in some form or another I promise you that. They're not perfect, absolutely not a big fan of Star Wars like me hates to admit that... but they have aged like fine wine over the years they've been given more chances to be seen as true classics instead of just bitter disappointments when George Lucas announced a new trilogy that will start in 1999 the world was buzzing with excitement the unfortunate news is that... it let most of the fans down, same goes for number 2 and kind of the same for number 3 overall reviews for all 3 were lukewarm fans and critics held nothing back but things are different now that enough time has passed to reevaluate everything The characters are awesome. We even get some favorite characters from the originals back! The planets visited are gorgeous and breathtaking, John Williams' music is as great as ever and the absolute best part is the choreography of the lightsaber duels and other action with them. It is so mesmerizing and heart-pumping to see. George Lucas wanted to bring out the vision of the Jedi fighting in their prime, when their numbers were vast. The first prequel's final battle is my favorite and it's the number one fight scene of all Star Wars' library. It has the music, the energy, the tone, the atmosphere, the stakes, you name it. The pace is like that of a football game. The action never stopped unless the combatants couldn't help it. I hope you react to it the way I think you will. Frankly, if you don't, I'll be disappointed. Even if you react below my expectations, I'll still enjoy it because I love you two anyway. You said that the lightsaber fight in the first Star Wars (number 4) was intense. Guys, you have seen NOTHING yet, trust me. I can't WAIT for you to get to The Phantom Menace! I'm so excited to share my passion with you guys! These will be my favorite reactions you'll ever do! I don't care what comes after the prequels or anything else Star Wars. Reactions for this series will be at the top for me. LOTR is good. Harry Potter is great. Star Wars, however, made the movies what they are today. Don't get me wrong, I'll still enjoy any other movie you decide to add to your collection but this franchise is the reason I'm a movie fan. It made me who I am in that regard. Love for facts and trivia and technology came from here. I grew up with it. It was pretty much all I knew until I started going into other series like Harry Potter and LOTR. I hope you'll have the same love for it like I do when you complete the prequels. Until next week... see you in that galaxy far far away...

That’s awesome! I briefly met him at a book signing for Beyond the Wand and he was great

Sam-I-Am

I love that you noticed how Snape hesitated when battling Minerva. Id like to point out how he actually deflected a few of her shots at him back at the Carrows who were standing behind him and that took them out. He truly did everything he could to help while playing his part.

DSW

West side story

Mary Alice

The Color Purple, Steel Magnolias, The Bucket List are all movies that have you running a gambit of emotions. All Excellent movies. Musical movies: original West Sode Story, Mamma Mia, The Sound of Music are three of my top choices

Mary Alice

I really wish they had kept the part about Harry using the elder wand to fix his own.

Kristin D

I've interacted with Tom on TikTok.

Michael J Paulus

Also, not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but the actor who plays Draco (Tom Felton) is amazing. He's so kind and always gives/shows love to Harry Potter fans. I love how active and involved he still is with the Harry Potter fandom. He actually did a documentary about meeting Harry Potter fans called Tom Felton Meets the Superfans.

Sam-I-Am

Also, “Locke & Key” the series on Netflix is very good and has that type of Harry Potter Magic vibe. On a different type of Magic fantasy I also recommend “Game of Thrones” 😎🤓

Now you two, imho, comes the best part. You get to rewatch and rewatch and knowing what you know now can watch with those new set of eyes and notice things, especially about Snape because Alan Rickman has stated that he knew the secret about Snape and played his character as such! These movies and books have become a warming comfort that I retreat to regularly and I hope it can be that for you! Thank you guys so much for a great reaction and a great cry 🥹 Snape is my absolute favorite character and that reveal always gets me

Elizabitty213

One of the best quotes of all seven no eight movies “not my daughter, you bitch!” I wanted to watch you see the end of Bellatrix Lestrange. Snape was one of the most complex characters in any book or sets of books that I’ve ever read his love for Lily was so strong, his story was so sad. And now you know that Snape was the one who hid the sword of Gryffindor, gave the fake one to Bellatrix and kept the real one for Harry. Harry’s children were named James Potter, Albus,Severus, Potter, and his daughter was Lily, Luna Potter. I really think you should read the books. There are a couple of things in this last movie that I wish they had not changed. Number one, the final site between Voldemort and Harry happened in the great hall with everybody watching according to the book. I wish that had been the same. Number two, if you recall, harry’s wand was broken during the fight in Godrich Hollow. In the book, Harry kept the pieces with him everywhere he went. At the end of the battle of Hogwarts, he was able to use the elder wand to fix his original wand with the phoenix feather inside. then he put the elder wand back in Dumbledore‘s tomb. I wish they had done that as well. Gosh, there’s so much to talk about, now you know why we were so excited for you to watch this last movie so many things had to be tied up with a neat little bow. Regarding Malfoy, the scene where he walks across towards his mother and Voldemort hugs, him was completely unscripted, and the actor who played Malfoy was really freaked out. That was a completely honest reaction to the hug because it wasn’t supposed to happen. Also, after Malfoy got away from his parents that was married, and had a child, he was not anything like his parents, he changed for the better. I’m so glad you loved the series. Again, I think you should go back to the books and read them now. Haven’t seen the movies, a lot of the things you’ll read will make more sense. Loved your reaction, can’t wait to see the full version. Thank you so much.

Mary Alice

Next you need to react to the prequels. Fantastic beasts and where to find them, Fantastic beasts: The Crime of Grindeward, Fantastic beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. You also need to go back and finish the Back To The Future trilogy!

I am Jussina

Bravo!! I have so enjoyed seeing these again with your fresh eyes. I honestly don't know if there is another epic movie or series that can compare to this. There are still plenty of movies that will give you the feels. The Color Purple sends you down the whole spectrum of emotions. And it will be great to see you revisit/finish the Star Wars series. The next great series I can think of after that would be The Hunger Games...but that's even more recent so you might have seen it. ETA: Just popping back in to say that although it's a completely different feel, maybe you would like the Brendan Frasier Mummy Series?

The Snape’s memories scene makes me cry big fat tears every time. I think I read that he came from a dysfunctional home, and Lily Potter was the first person to show him kindness and one of only two people, including Dumbledore, that he ever truly loved. He had to watch Lily fall in love with the person who bullied him which is why he always seemed so torn regarding Harry. He hated the parts of James Potter he saw in Harry, but his love for Lily made him care for the parts of her he saw in him. He had to watch Lily die—that scene with baby Harry in the crib and Snape holding Lily is so powerful. Both of them lost her that day. And then he had to kill the only other person in the world he loved. Snape was loyal to the few people he cared for, literally to the death, and in doing so played a crucial role in taking down Voldemort that probably no one else could’ve. He isn’t totally a good guy—we watched him bully and abuse students, and I understand he was even worse in the books. But Dumbledore wasn’t all good, either. Both very complicated characters. GREAT reaction, you guys. Edit: and also—both Lily and Snape’s patronus was a doe. To cast a patronus, you have to think of your happiest memory which for Snape was Lily, as Snape said, “Always.” ❤️ RIP Alan Rickman. He was my favorite actor ever since Sense and Sensibility from 1995. If you want to see him in a totally different character, I highly recommend that movie. It’s a great one.

Alicia

Loved watching this series with you . Your reactions is what we turn in for even though most of us seen this it is a whole new experience to see it through your eyes. So much but most Professer Snape and all turned out.

Lisa Rhodes

One of the best series of all time. One of the few that had twists and turns and tied up all the loose ends. What a legendary adventure it was

Snape had absolutely been a death eater, he turned spy for Dumbledore when Voldermort threatened Lilly

Adele

Snape was a death eater. Until he heard Voldemort wanted to kill lily becuase he thought her child would be his end. When Voldemort struck harry he actually only killed his own horcrux. That’s why harry could come back. Should read the books. Snape begged dumbledore to help lily when he found out what Voldemort wanted to do. But he was on his side.

Dawn

this is where you need to read the books.

Adele

My WiFi has decided to poop out on me!!!! Nooooo! I want to watch this now!!!!!

Mary Alice

Can’t wait to get home to watch! We’ve been anticipating your reactions for the final movie since you started but especially once you got to part 6 The Half Blood Prince

Jennifer Sanchez

Was gonna save for later til after kiddos went to bed. Can't help myself, gotta watch it now!!

Mike Hartley

I can tell you have A LOT to discuss throughout the week and beyond these books have tons of hidden details you MUST read them and get Bria to read them too and Kiya when she's old enough to read chapter books! Bri can get through the first three books in less than 3 days easy the last 4, maybe a week each if she puts her nose to the grindstone she'll REALLY enjoy them If her reading level is advanced, she can find some things you couldn't see in these movies! We all loved the books growing up (me especially since I grew up in that generation) because the writing was so serialized and tied in to almost everything. Questions and answers were always the name of the game in this story. Again, we hope you get to read them soon and study every chapter over and over again. Snape only did his task of protecting Harry for Lily alone... not Lily and James both he cared nothing for James. When he visited Godric's Hollow to assess the damage that Voldemort caused he stepped right over James' body on his way towards the bedroom. All he gave the body was a nonchalant glance he never forgave James for all the bullying he and the other Marauders wreaked on him Another thing about Snape mentioning that the Potters are in grave danger... he may have given the wrong baby's name to Voldemort before he reported to Dumbledore the prophecy that Trelawney orated. It wasn't heard in full by Snape all he heard was that the baby that can defeat Voldemort was born at the end of the seventh month (July of course)... and that's it. There was another baby born during that time... NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM he was born July 30 whereas Harry was born July 31 there's a fan theory around that Neville was the Chosen One instead The one thing about the prophecy is that it's vague. A definitive person can't be discerned from it. So, Voldemort went on and chose one family that had a child born at that certain point... the Potters. From then on, the prophecy was about Harry, being marked as an equal like the prophecy said. Neville could've been it because he was the one who dispatched the snake Nagini with the Sword of Gryffindor that came from Gryffindor's Sorting Hat. That can be interpreted in any way. Either he killed Voldemort indirectly or just the last piece of his soul so Harry can finish the job. Both Harry and Neville were connected more than first thought. They both killed a snake with a sword that was from inside a hat. They both had parents who suffered at the hands of Voldemort and/or his Death Eaters. Relatively same birthdays. Aberforth Dumbledore had a rut of a life. His family was pretty much destroyed when he was only a teenager. He and his curmudgeon personality is from years of pain, despair, sorrow and resentment for his brother. It all started when Dumbledore and Grindelwald started their friendship. Don't blame him for talking down on his brother's memory. He was the reason it all happened this way. So, seeing him cast the Patronus on the bridge means that he had to search real hard for a memory that can be so impactful and meaningful to shoo those Dementors away. The final battle between Harry and Voldemort was more packed than it was shown in this movie. They weren't alone. They weren't outside. They were in the Great Hall surrounded by the many characters the books created. The duel had more than them just connecting Expelliarmus with Avada Kedavra. They gave their all with spells. They even had more dialogue and circled each other a couple of times while doing so. Finally, Voldemort's death was just his body falling backwards and hitting the floor in silence. I think some critics and fans have mocked the way he died in this movie comparing it now to being dusted (since you're not comic book movie fans this is a reference to what happened in a Marvel movie). Almost 7 years ago, a play named "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" premiered in London so there is a little bonus story following Harry's adventures. This time, his younger son Albus is the focus and he has Draco's son Scorpius along for the ride. It's a time travel adventure so it gets pretty complicated. A book version was published so get ahold of that along with the seven books.

Karl Kraus

I've been waiting all week for this!
