Here are some old Wolfman Jack archives from his radio show: https://archive.org/details/wolfmanjack_202108/

Speaking of “Louie Louie” by The Kingsmen, if you haven’t seen the movie “Coup de Ville” go check it out. The best scene has the main characters debating the lyrics of that song.

Jeff Mills

They are probably used to hearing he 1963 cover by the Kingsmen. My personal favorite might have to be the version by Toots and the Maytals, but that probably has a lot to do with my love for reggae.

Wolfman Jack was a real guy, born Robert Weston Smith, who became an iconic DJ during the early 1960's. He was pretty notorious, with a syndicated show, but I think this movie really gave his career an extra boost. Though past his days of biggest cultural influence, he was a pretty regular older celebrity on TV and radio while growing up in the 70's and 80's. Some bangin' tunes from the 50's/60's. I had forgotten Del Shannon's Runaway was so prominently featured. A buddy of mine fronts a band that covers that tune, and it ALWAYS gets the crowd singing along. Even if they aren't from the start of the chorus, it takes super-human powers to resist the urge to sing along with the "wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder" bit. Since it sounds like we're due for some Start Wars prequels, it's also worth noting that George Lucas loved his hot rods and racing back in the day. It's a love that not only inspired this movie, but also a racing scene in your next Star Wars movie, Episode 1 "The Phantom Menace."

Robert Greffey

Loved watching it with you. By the way, cherry bomb are big firecrackers that as a prank back in the day, would light them and throw in toilets to explode...also, that was the same song, "LOUIE LOUIE, THATS WHERE WE GOTTA GO", that you thought it was

This is so cool. I was actually going to write something today about “American Graffiti”. It is such a great movie with an incredible soundtrack. There was a 1950s revival during the 1970s. This movie. “Happy Days”. “Grease”. “Sha Na Na”. Sock hops started coming back to schools. We used to have 50s Day in high school. Do they even do that anymore? LOL My favorite character is Curt. I relate so much to him. That was me when I was younger. Still is to a certain extent.

Jeff Mills

Yeah, i thought 100% it would lauch today, because that did one film on fridays and the harry potter movies on mondays

LarsGrimm

yes he was really the Wolfman

Lisa Rhodes

if it wasn't today, it has to be Friday Amber said they'd head back to it after they finished Deathly Hallows 2

The streets of Modesto California is the neighborhood where George Lucas grew up so this movie is a glimpse of how it was in his teens and twenties. He drew all sorts of inspirations in his movies from the cars and buildings, everything from Star Wars pretty much and some of Indiana Jones. I haven't seen his first ever movie, THX 1138, but I'm sure Modesto is there somewhere as well. The cast has familiar faces everywhere. You mentioned Harrison Ford so check on him. Next, is Ronny (Ron) Howard, who played Steve. If your parents grew up watching the Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days, Ronny was Opie Taylor and Richie Cunningham respectively in those two shows. In fact, the song that opened up the movie, Rock around the Clock, was the first theme song for Happy Days before it changed to the one the show is more known for. It started airing a year before this movie was released in theaters. He has had a marvelous career in movies. He has two Academy Awards to his name, for directing and producing A Beautiful Mind, which you guys need to react to, along with Apollo 13, The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. He's also directed a Star Wars movie, one of the Disney ones. Richard Dreyfuss (Curt) is from Jaws. He played Hooper the marine life expert. He's also in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which you also need to react to, PLEASE! This last one you may not know. Machenzie Phillips played the 12 year old Carol. She starred in a few Disney Channel properties back in the 2000s. You ever heard of the show, "So Weird"? the TV movie "Double Teamed"? I didn't even know this was the same person until I saw the movie for the first time! I was taken aback! She got her career started in a George Lucas movie! The editing and storytelling is George's style. He liked to create one compressed timeframe and plug in all of these scenarios and situations into that space. He used it in the Star Wars saga all of the time, mostly at the end. In one of them, Episode ll, the divided storylines are more spread out, over a few days instead of a lot of hours. The screenplay earned George his first Academy Award nominations for writing and directing, his next and last two coming from Star Wars, of course. I got exposed to this type of music before I even started high school because I was in the car listening along with my parents and siblings to oldie radio stations on road trips. I've heard anecdotes about this decade from my family for years. Seeing this movie cleared a lot of things up. I'm glad you enjoyed the story as well as the music. If the next Film Friday IS Episode l: the Phantom Menace, this is the perfect leadup towards it.

When can i expect you're going back to the galaxy far far away?
