2023-03-10 09:27:32 +0000 UTCThis is the reason I'm a Goldie lol, AINT NO WAY....I coulda watched the youtube edit, it's not even fair, to yall & yalls emotions or my own LOL. I don't even know where to start, here let me put the end at the beginning, MORE JULIA ROBERTS PLEASE!!! She's 1 of my favorites, and I am not only a supporter of "no such thing as chick flix", Im a founder LOL, just cause a movie has a target demographic don't mean it's just for that target to enjoy (just like everyone who is that target ain't gon automatically enjoy). My #1 Julia movie request is my #1 favorite Julia movie Pretty Woman (KILLER soundtrack) and it's fun seeing LA in 1990 (the year I was born & just 1 of my favorite years in entertainment), but a 2nd to that that I think you both will enjoy a ton is Step Mom, those are my favorites of Julia but truly you can't go wrong with her or Sally Field. Anyway anyway, this movie here is a sledge hammer to the heart, for me this movie is a test in a viewers empathy, and for those of us lucky enough to be in touch with our empathy, it's a rough one (yall did me proud lol). I'm from a big family, I've lost family members & friends that are like family members all along my life, I remember funerals & funeral homes for so much of my life, I've always found the death thing fascinating, how people can just be here, be fine, & then....they're gone physically forever, my head has never taken that aspect well no matter the relationship to the person. That said losing my maternal grandfather a few years back, my paternal grandmother & my father fairly recently, NOTHING I've seen hits the truth of how I feel/felt at those deaths that affect my life directly like that the way Sally Field's performance in that cemetery does, I can't not cry at "IM SO MAD!" because that's the part nobody thinks about, that's the part we don't prepare ourselves for, there is an anger component there that is REAL,. What struck me in the heart place about that though beyond what I can relate to, it's what I empathize for, I have friends & relatives who's mothers passed when they were babies, too young to remember them, and no matter the person, I always find that so heartbreaking, no matter the circumstance, and it breaks my heart more from the position of knowing that mother before she became a mother, the excitement & joys & plans of becoming a mother........and then they are one for a painfully short time (Im here making myself cry talking about this, but that's where this scene hiits for real). This was REAL, and I feel it every time I see it. I love that I not only know all of these women as the older women in my family in personalities but like how Jay says he relates to being the instigator, I see aspects of all of these main women in me. I love with Anelle, I know too many of them someone really shy, scared to put themselves out there, gets hurt in a relationship, gets really wild & out there when they come out of it, then gets newly saved/born again, and get on EVERYONES nerves being the bestest strictest version of their religion that they can be, then through a lil bit more of life & learning they learn to relax (sometimes they leave the religion, but most times they learn to just be cool about that stuff).

2023-03-09 18:53:17 +0000 UTCSo glad you reacted to this movie. The cast gives great performances, and you finally got to see Dolly act 😊. But the funeral scene with Sally Field is what gets me EVERY time 😢. I love what you said Amber, about the movie being about womanhood, we are Steel Magnolias. Here are some suggestions for future movies. “Little Miss Sunshine” (great ensemble cast), “Minority Report” (one of my favorite sci-fi movies), “Goodfellas” (best mob movie IMO, by the great Martin Scorsese). “Pleasantville” (light enough comedy-drama that’s an easy watch).
