I was really young the first time I saw this movie so I didn’t notice then but on the rewatch it was really obvious there was something there.

You literally can see them falling in love with each other from the first scene to the last.

Paul Williams who played Little Enos is an accomplished singer-songwriter who has written or co-written several hit songs including “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Rainy Days and Mondays” by The Carpenters, “Out In The Country” and “Just An Old Fashioned Love Song” by Three Dog Night.
Paul also has a great album called “Someday Man” which I highly recommend. And, he wrote “The Rainbow Connection”.
A few years ago, I posted on my Instagram about Paul and he liked my post and started following me. I was so humbled and honored. He truly is a genuinely wonderful person.
Would love to see you both watch “The Muppet Movie” and listen to “The Rainbow Connection”.

Burt & Sally were a couple after this movie. You can really see they had a spark between them. Unfortunately it ended and Sally has implied in interviews that Burt was the big love of her life and he broke her heart.

Alfred Hitchcock said this was one of the best films ever made. It has EVERYTHING. You both really enjoyed the songs........surprise surprise, Jerry Reed (Cleatus) sang all the songs in the moving. Not only could he act but he could sing. Yep........nearly 50 years later, we all still lust after that Trans Am.

Good Evening! Since you enjoyed the star wars saga, may I please ask if you can check out Spaceballs movie by Mel Brooks? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGIM_yNzeUo&ab_channel=RottenTomatoesClassicTrailers

Fun reaction!! The CB radio and trucker craze was during my jr high school days. My dad drove an 18-wheeler at the time so it was fun to see that slice of American culture on the screen. Many homes had a "base station" CB. It's interesting that you noted the "handles" being like twitter handles now. I guess it was just an early way for people to connect pre-social media.

Smokey and the Bandit is an awesome movie. There is even a Smokey and the Bandit 2 that have the same actors. But Burt Reynolds isn't really in the 3rd one. If you like similar types of movies, also with Burt Reynolds, you should check on the Cannonballl Run. The Premise is a high speed race across the United States that is run by an Arabian Sheik for a lot of money, there are 2 of the Cannonball movies with Burt Reynolds, and a lot of other actors (Jackie Chan, Dom Deluise, Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, and Farrah Fawcett), the movie is very funny.

In the 70's, truckers became something of cultural folk heroes, and CB radio culture was a big thing. C. W. McCall's “Convoy” was a number one hit on the radio, and there were TV shows like “Movin' On” and “B.J. and The Bear” featuring truckers. CB lingo was everywhere. This film did its part making it all the more popular. My stepdad was a trucker and so I was deep in all that at the time. But it still just seems weird to me.
Sheriff Buford T. Justice is none other than the legend, Jackie Gleason. For any other person, this might have been a role to define a career, but since he made his bones inventing television comedy on “The Honeymooners” in the 1950's, it was just one more iconic performance.
And yes, every kid wanted a Trans Am after this movie. I was one of them. Until I saw Mad Max. Then I wanted that black Pursuit Special.
So it seems Jay's seen The Longest Yard, so, I guess I can stop suggesting that one.

Jerry Reed, aka the Snowman/Cledus, sang the songs for Smokey and the Bandit. He started out as a singer.

Amber and Jay, this was truly a joyride! Watching the movie with both of you was so much fun on this Sunday afternoon.
I so wanted a Trans-Am when I was a kid. This movie is such a huge part of my childhood. I’m a transplanted Yankee who has spent most of his life in the South and this movie remains one of my favorites.
Amber, you are dead-on accurate. Burt Reynolds was a huge sex symbol back in the day. I don’t think he compares with most men today. He was like a combination of Matthew McConaughey and George Clooney.
Jay, I love that you appreciate the sarcasm in this movie. So many one-liners going back and forth throughout.
The guy who plays Cletus is country singer Jerry Reed. He also played the mean coach in “The Waterboy”. I highly recommend checking out his country songs. “When You’re Hot You’re Hot” is a good one. So is “Guitar Man”.
Now you both need to watch “Smokey and the Bandit II”. 😊

i first saw this classic when my cousin loaned his DVD copy of it to us for a refreher viewing for them i was in 8th or 9th grade at the time so i was just old enough to see it i never saw anything like it, having action and comedy blending so well seeing Burt and Sally verbally spat at each other reminds me of Han and Leia in Star Wars this movie and SW were easily the cash cows of the year 1977 Smokey complements it perfectly
That dog IS a bassitt hound, picked by Burt Reynolds personally. It refused to obey commands.
The sheriff is played by Jackie Gleason, one of the premier comedians of the mid 20th century. He was in the TV show, the Honeymooners, in case any of your parents watched it as a kid or teen. I saw the humor he employed first-hand in this role. Absolutely vicious and no-nonsense!
I've been in Georgia my whole life (almost 29 years now) and I've never heard the state being called "adventurous". I don't even know where that border sign is located.
