Perhaps, but it does contain one of Brad Pitt's greatest performances (after 12 Monkeys)...

They won't like Burn after reading.

You two would absolutely love O Brother Where Art Thou, if for the music alone. It's a great movie, funny and intelligent, but the soundtrack is to die for. Great old timey blue grass music. I'm telling you, you'd both love it.

Tony Rogers

Amber and Jay, thanks for prompting me to watch this film again. It's one of my favorites, but I hadn't watched it in years! Just a couple interesting points for you: 1) Don't feel bad, but you (and EVERYONE else) who watches this film were a little duped by the filmmakers. While they tell us at the outset it's a true story, it actually isn't. The Coen brothers (sort of) explained their decision to include that claim as follows: “We wanted to make a movie just in the genre of a true story movie. You don't have to have a true story to make a true story movie.” In essence, the Coens wanted to the film to carry the feeling of being a sordid true-crime drama, even if the events being presented never actually happened.🤔 2) If you ever find yourselves in Fargo, ND, you can stop by the visitor's center off I-94 and pose for a family photo with the actual woodchipper used in the film!🤣 Hope you had a blessed Easter with the family. Best wishes to you all!🤗

Agreed it checked off the boxes of being one of the greatest movies ever a thrilling story of cat and mouse - a three way match at that!

I think no country for old men is better than Fargo.

Michael Lynch

Welcome to the Coen Brothers universe! If you liked this one, check out The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou, No Country for Old Men, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, and Burn After Reading. Also, Noah Hawley is just finishing the 5th season of Fargo the TV series, an anthology series on FX. It is brilliantly done, with original stories and characters very loosely based on not just Fargo but on some of the other Coen movies. Check out the 1st season which stars Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton. Mike's story is almost a non-sequitur here until you realize that Marge finding out that Mike made the whole thing up inspired her to go back and talk to Jerry again. For what it's worth, this wasn't a true story. Or it is true. But only in the sense that there was probably a story that the brothers came across in which a husband was responsible for the death of his wife. Everything you see on screen is fictional.

Amber's gotta check out "Se7en" if she loves crime mysteries. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as homicide detectives. It's very dark but so so good.

Thad Moone

how does she like NCIS without Agent Gibbs? i think it's just fine it may not have many electric stories anymore but the companionship is still there which brings me back every week, every season i like NCIS because I had a grandfather who served in the Navy for a time, wanted to be a pilot so I watch and honor him every time

Yes amber loves those shows!

Nice pick 👍🏼. I love Frances McDormand, and the Cohen Brothers make some good movies. Check out “Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri” if you liked her acting, she also won an Oscar for this. For more Cohen bothers, check out “No Country For Old Men” “Raising Arizona” or “True Grit”. Amber, I think you’d like Film Noir genre…so here are some suggestions “Chinatown” (1974 starring Jack Nicholson) “L.A Confidential” (1997) “Laura” (1944) and “The Usual Suspects” ( 1995). BTW, they made Fargo into a tv show, in case you’re interested.

Patty Estrada

Do you watch NCIS? CSI? Law and order? I've gotten into crime shows over the years and a big fan myself! Glad to add to the list of properties we have in common! Next, watch No Country for Old Men from the Coen Bros.! It has a deranged and crazy villain! It's a western movie that doubles as a crime movie it really interweaves seamlessly between the two so I recommend that!
