When we got the Tommy Johnson scene about the guitarist at the crossroads saying he sold his soul to the devil I obviously once again want to recommend the movie "Crossroads" to Jay and Amber. It`s still one of the reactions I`m hoping most for of any movie. Love the music and the "classic scene" near the end is so good! I might add though that using the name Tommy Johnson instad of Robert Johnson in this Cohen film is actually refering to not only Robert, but a real "Tommy Johnson". Tommy Johnson was the first that claimed to have sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads in exchange for his mastery of the guitar. This story was later also associated with Robert Johnson, to whom Tommy Johnson was unrelated. The story of Johnson's selling his soul to the devil was first told by his brother, LaDell Johnson, and reported by David Evans in his 1971 biography of Johnson. This legend was subsequently attributed to the blues musician Robert Johnson.

I absolutely know you will both love this song please do on your music channel. Everything you would want in a rock ballad . Everything .Saigon Kick's - Love Is ON The Way. Guitar Jordan you will love. Amber you will love the vocals too. Wish you would do some old movies like Beach movies and see how some of us did it back then. Beach Blanket Bingo or Muscle Beach Party.

I'm serious. If you ever wanted to try a Rob Squad Family Reaction movie, then you should choose the 7th Voyage of Sinbad.

Gather the children around now and watch the 1958 7th Voyage of Sinbad.

When they met the guitar player, Jay asked about a song, I'm guessing he was thinking of "Devil went down to Georgia". Also, on the your music channel, Jay asked for fun summertime songs, check out Kenny Chesney "Summertime", what a party!

We’ve done a good run of Coen Bros. films of late, so perhaps not right away. But when you do decide to revisit them, I’m fond of their adaptation of True Grit over the John Wayne version from 1969. Something to consider when the mood for a western strikes. But the comedy I’d bank on you having a real good time with is Raising Arizona. You should check it out. Also features a soundtrack with some yodeling bluegrass pickin’ goodness.

if you love parallels to the Odyssey, watch the baseball movie, the Natural all of the characters and plotlines make great connections to that story

The Coen brothers fail to disappoint! While you guys are on a Coen bros roll, You would really enjoy, The Lady killers with Tom Hanks, Marlon Wayne, Ryan Hurst & J.K Simmons. When it comes to Coen Brothers movies, it's hard to pick a favorite! Take care guys.

The music producer of this movie T.Bone Burnett also produced two albums of duets Alison Krauss and Robert Plant

These songs were as old as the turn of the century.

Some answers to y’all’s questions: They did have machine guns but they were essentially the earliest version of what we have today, that’s a Thompson in the barn scene. Tommy is based off Robert Johnson who was rumored to have sold his Soul to the devil in Mississippi and is the father of Delta Blues. George Clooney cannot sing like that, in fact he was so bad they were afraid to tell him. Tim Blake Nelson (Delmar) was the only one to take voice lessons and so was the only one they recorded for the soundtrack, so he’s the only one who gets royalties on the song, the album went 8 times platinum and is considered the album that brought folk, Americana and bluegrass back into the mainstream. -Homer Stokes was “rode out on a rail” which was considered a very shameful way to be ostracized in those days. -Odyssey references are: Oracle/old blind man Cyclop/ John Goodman Circe & sirens /sirens for singing, Circe for the animal transformation Flood/the great storm poseidon sends Suitors/ Vernon That’s all the ones I know.
