I think this was one of your best reactions. Your reaction to some this movie got us laughing pretty hard. Given how you've reacted before, here are a few movies that you might enjoy, Definitely good for some laughs after a long hard day: Dragnet - based on the old investigative police show Dragnet. Tom Hanks and Dan Akroyd,. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - Steve Martin, Michael Cain Maverick - western - Mel Gibson, Jodi Foster, James Garner (who starred in the original tv show)

Weird Al, what a trip he was/is. He made his own mockumentary of his life last year called Weird which was very funny. Ultimately all of it was fake, except for one or two parts. Daniel Radcliffe did an amazing job with it too, being hand picked for the role by Al. While not a mockumentary, I think they would enjoy Dragnet with Tom Hanks and Dan Akroyd. Also based on an old tv show, though I don't think the show was comedy, where as the movie is.

ABC kept “Joanie and Chachi” on the air yet cancelled “Police Squad”. SMH

Agreed. Same writing and directing team as this and Airplane, but I think I like Top Secret best of all.

You guys gotta watch Top Secret, a comedy with Val Kilmer.

David Croft-Ogawa

I'd argue the second film more accurately parodies the Rambo sequels. Those became the poster child for over-the-top 80's action movies worthy of such parody. But "First Blood", Rambo's debut on the screen, is VERY different from those. It's not what folks only familiar with the stereotype expect. It's not only a banger of an action film, but the ending is quite emotional and moving. One of my favorite acting performances by Stallone that spoke to a lot of the heartache of Vietnam veterans who had trouble adjusting to life in peacetime. The Squad should watch it sometime. Then maybe do the cheesy over the top sequels, but I could take or leave those.

Ah, the joys of being a parent meet up with the joys of being a homeowner! Oh, did I say "joys". Sorry, meant to type "headaches". 😉 I am likewise glad we got to be part of a much needed pick-me-up after a hard day.

Leslie Neilson is the leading man in my favorite 1950's sci-fi film, Forbidden Planet. Good stuff.

As mentioned above, this was based on a TV show called Police Squad that got cancelled before it even finished its first season. Fans of good shows that got canceled early always speculate why (I'm looking at you, Firefly fans!) But there's a theory among media professional as to why this one flopped. TV often gets disrespect from film folks for being “radio with pictures”. There is truth to it, and editing for TV is very different. Because we watch TV differently than a movie in a theater, and lots of folks have a TV on in the background, or while doing something else. So audio needs to be consistent so you can still keep up even if you aren't looking at the screen the entire time. And so the thinking goes that Police Squad had too many visual gags that you would never catch if you were clipping coupons or playing tug-o-war with your dog and his favorite chew toy while you had it on. In short, you actually had to watch your TV to get the jokes, and so it failed. I'm not sure I buy that entirely, but it's interesting and may have some truth to it. And there are TV executives who believe it as gospel truth. Also, do Weird Al Yankovic for the music channel for sure, but... he also made a movie that I think would be up your alley called “UHF”. You should check it out. Although before you check out the movie, maybe also react to Dire Strait's “Money for Nothing” on the music channel as it gets parodied at one point in the movie. The Rambo parody will likely go over your head, but you wanna be on the song references for Weird Al.

Fun fact: That's Ricardo's real chest in Star Trek II. A lot of folks assume it's a prosthetic to make him look big and beefy, but the dude was actually that fit and toned. But apparently in his early days in Mexico, he was a bodybuilder, so stayed good and fit through his whole life.

There are jokes in the credits, in the words. You need to watch them slowly to catch them all.

William Benton

This movie comes from a TV show called Police Squad with the same cast. It was cancelled and they started making movies instead. The red light from the opening credits is from the intro on the show. The bad guy is best know as the star of the show Fantasy Island, and playing Kahn on Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Kahn. The red fingers are from Pistachio nuts. They used to cover them with this red dye for some reason, and your fingers would turn red from taking them out of the shells. I can watch OJ getting punished all day long. He made these films right before he turned to murdering people. He was actually very beloved as a public figure before he slayed people.

Couldn’t agree more. Great comedy. Maybe a little older than some folks on here remember but stands the test of time. Be a very funny reaction. Streisand really plays comedy well and she sings a little too!

Geoff Thomas

This movie was based on a TV series called “Police Squad” which was a sitcom on ABC that aired in 1982. It only lasted about six episodes, but it was very funny. I highly recommend checking it out.

Jeff Mills

Glad you guys loved it. If you EVER want to see the best slapstick/screwball comedy of all time "What's up Doc?" with Barbra Streisand is gut busting funny.

FriarTom

The “Hot Shots” movies are pretty funny, too. The first one is a parody of “Top Gun”. The second one is a parody of the “Rambo” movies.

Amber and Jay, I’m so happy you enjoyed this especially after a rough day. A few years ago I had a toilet leak that flooded my house. Thankfully I came home after a couple of hours. It was about a foot of water in the bedroom, hall, and hall bathroom mostly. Had to get the carpets dried and luckily my parents are close by so I got to stay with them for a few days. The good news is that it dried and the issue was resolved. I know it’s frustrating to have days like this, but if it’s any consolation it will be better tomorrow and this weekend. And, you both always make my days better. ❤️🙏

Now you have to watch the next 2 Naked Guns.
