Immortal Desires [Script Peek] [Vampire Speaker x Human Listener]
Added 2022-12-23 15:03:03 +0000 UTCHi, Sunroom peeps! I recently talked about an idea for a small audio series about some Vampire x Human shenanigans and I mentioned sharing the script I wrote for the first part, so here it is~
I wanted to give you the option to stay spoiler-free and be surprised on the day I post the audio itself so I'm inserting the tags for this script after the picture. Also, I wrote this in a different format than how my scripts actually are! Just trying out something and seeing how I like it...
I really enjoyed writing this script and I'm excited to perform this when I get the chance. I hope you enjoy if you decide to give it a read. <3

[Bar ambience is heard all around.]
[Listener arrives.]
Sofia: Ugh.
Yes, it's me. Or did you forget that I work here, too?
Oh, is that so? What if I told you I don't feel like doing inventory in the basement today, hmm?
(chuckles) Well, owning the place means I get to do as I please, sweetheart. I thought you'd get that by now.
[A drunk and seemingly annoyed patron appears at the bar.]
Drunk patron: This is the second time I've told you to– uggh... give me the strongest you got.... Sofia!
Sofia: For sure, ma'am. I'll make sure someone attends to you.
Drunk patron: You better! [They slam the bar counter as they leave.]
Sofia: (sarcastically) Don't you just love customer service? The colorful array of humans and their quirky behaviors?
Nah, I'll make sure she gets something that'll still leave her with enough strength to get home. [To someone else] Can you get this to that table? Yeah. Be careful, please. She's in a mood tonight.
[To Listener] And you.... are late. Yes, I noticed.
Don't flatter yourself, sweetheart. Your horrid attendance record and the fact that you can't seem to walk in a flat surface without injuring yourself in some way are the most interesting things about you. Other than that, there's not really much else that catches my eye.
What can I say? I'm very charming. [Sofia takes a sip of a drink.] Ahhh, that's nice.
(scoffs) How would you know how much I've been drinking? You got here 20 seconds ago.
Why do you pay so much attention to the things I do? You aren't crushing on me, are you?
Are you sure? [She leans a little closer.]
'Cause even with this counter between us, I'm pretty sure I can hear your heart beating out of your chest.
And the pulse in your neck is drumming like crazy.
Maybe I was wrong. (quietly) Maybe you can be a little interesting... Hmm...
I said that pin on your shirt is interesting. Is that new?
Well, it's sagging and it looks like to tried to put it on with your toes. It's a miracle it hasn't fallen off yet.
Ugh, you look so unkempt if you let it hang like that. Let me fix it. Just... lean over the table.
Let me see—
[A small and quick sound comes from the contact. You can't be sure, but it sounds as if something got singed. Sofia curses under her breath.]
Sofia: Ah! Fuck.
Huh.
Nah, I'm.. I'm fine.
Your pin... antique, huh? Yeah... Silver?
(quietly) Hmm. Thought so. Ugh.
(louder) I said fix it yourself. I'm not doing it for you, I'm not your maid.
So what if I offered? I changed my mind.
Either fix it or throw it away. I don't want my employees looking improper.
[A quiet moment settles between you both as you fix yourself up and Sofia cleans around the counter. That is, until you decide to disrupt it.]
Sofia: What? Oh?
And this question of yours, do I have to answer it? 'Cause I quite enjoy the idea of ignoring you infinitely. [She chuckles, but it's cut off when she hears your question.]
(scoffs) And what were you doing in the town archives, hmm?
Night school? You?
That's interesting. I never pegged you for an academic. You look more like the type to imagine fake romantic scenarios that'll never happen instead of using all that extra brainpower to do useful things... like studying.
Alright, pray tell. What did you find, hmm?
[Her demeanor changes slightly as you explain your studies.]
Sofia: (scoffs) Well, you're quite the detective, aren't you?
Yes, sweetheart. Believe it or not, there can be a logical explanation as to why my... my name... is written on a guest list for a party held 90 years ago.
You ready?
My family, well... they were one of the first settlers here in Crimson Oak. No surprise there. But did you know they built the town hall? They built this bar. They even built that lovely library you were lurking around in. The Melloris looooved building shit and they loved the glory they acquired from building shit, so they named the rest of us after the elders lest we forget the important contributions of our bloodline to this little town.
Yep. The original Sofia Mellori. My great, great, great... you get it.
What? Don't tell me... (smirking)
You didn't actually think I signed that ledger, did you?
Huh. There's no way that could actually happen... right?
I mean, unless I attended that auction myself 90 years ago... right?
Yeah? I'm a what, now?
Huh?
Oh, dear. You shouldn't let your imagination get the best of you..
And if I were a monster, shouldn't you be more careful with the way you talk to me?
I mean, who knows what I'll do to you if you irritate me?
[Despite the unsettling feeling that you're being threatened creeping in, you couldn't help but catch a little discrepancy in Sofia's explanation.]
What?
Didn't you say "auction"?
Well, parties, auctions, who cares what the differences are? They're all boring, rich people bullshit.
(sarcastic) Hm. Very observant, aren't you?
[Her voice takes on a threatening tone.] If I were you, I'd stop poking around.
With all the secrets little towns like this got, you might find something you're not ready for.
You'd do well to let dead things stay hidden.
[A fight breaks out in the background.]
Morgan: Ma'am, put the glass down!
Drunk patron: What kind of establishment is this? This is not what I asked for!
Sofia: [To the Listener] Wait, where are you going?? Are you crazy? Let Morgan handle it!
No, what—! [Her voice fades as you get closer to the ongoing fight.] Stop being stubborn— Get back here right now!
Morgan: [To the Listener] No, I got this. I'll remove her at once.
Drunk patron: [They resist as Morgan tries to move them away and picks a fight with the nearest server.] Don't you touch me! What is this drink you gave me, this is not what I asked for!
Morgan: [To the Listener, coolly.] Go back to the bar and do as you're told.
Drunk patron: Ugh! [Shards from a broken glass fly in your vicinity.] This is bullshit, let go of me!
Morgan: [To the drunk patron] That's it, you will never be coming back here again and I'll make sure my employer pays you a visit, ma'am.
You've had too much to drink. You are gonna be taken home by our driver. My employer will be expecting an apology when you're in a better state.
Drunk patron: [Their words overlap and fade as she gets taken away] What—? Is that a threat, huh? The Melloris KNOW me, this is preposterous, I just wanted to be served properly— [A voice next to you cuts through the commotion.]
Server: Ugh. What a fucking night. I'll clean up this mess. You need to take care of that now, it looks bad.
No, don't touch it— There's a first aid kit behind the bar.
[You get back to the bar clutching your arm. A very annoyed Sofia is still standing behind it. She begins pouring drinks as soon as she spots you.]
Sofia: Well, that was VERY stupid of you. You want some champagne, celebrate your little brave moment? 'Cause I could use a freaking drink.
No, I told you to stay, and you didn't— [Her annoyance is suddenly replaced by shock.] What?....
What is....? You're bleeding.... you— oh— hnnggg— No—!
[Her hand flies up to cover her mouth and nose. The champagne bottle in her hand shatters into pieces.]
Sofia: Ah, fuck! Oh my god.. Mmmmm... [You can hear her panicked breathing behind her hand.]
[Morgan suddenly appears beside you.]
Morgan: I'll take care of this, Miss Sofia.
Sofia: Morgan, they're... they're bleeding...
Morgan: [To Sofia, pointedly] Please. The cellar, Miss. Yes? Go. [Their attention turns to you.] You. Look here.
[You wince as they assess the gash in your arm.] Ah ah ah, I know it hurts. That's what you get for meddling.
What? Me, fast? I was beside you this whole time. You are imagining things. Stand still. I have to clean this.
[Morgan grabs a kit behind the counter and tends to your wound.]
Morgan: Miss Sofia will be fine. I will attend to her later. Stay. Still.
Thank you for trying to help but next time, don't. I can't be worrying about keeping you safe when I'm dealing with another problem.
[They shuffle through the kit.] There's no tape here. I'll be right back.
[Morgan walks away. You decide to sneak into the basement to see how Sofia is doing.]
[The trip to the basement is short. The place familiar, but now cold and unsettling.]
[You open the farthest door that leads to the bar's storage and find Sofia. Her back is facing you, her head bowed down... It dawns on you that she's mauling on something.]
[You can hear wet squelches as she devours whatever it is she's holding in her hands. Her moans sound like satisfaction... and sadness?]
[You try to step back the way you came, but hit something.]
[Sofia whirls around, choking and growling when she realizes it's you.]
Sofia: What— No!
[The winds rush around you as Sofia closes the distance between you at lightning speed. You're pushed against the wall, the breath knocked out of you.]
Sofia: You shouldn't be down here! Why are you here?! Why?! Why?! [She punches the wall with each word.]
Look at me! [You struggle in her grasp but she's unbelievably strong.] Look in my eyes...
Stop screaming. Don't move. [You do as she says. You want to.]
That's it. Yeah. You didn't see anything—
Morgan: Miss Sofia, no! [Where did they come from...?]
Sofia: I got this, Morgan!
Hey. [You pay attention. You want to.]
You were never down here. This never happened. You didn't see anything.
[You're sitting at the bar. There's a slight pain in your arm. Sofia is on the other side about to pour you both a drink.]
Sofia: —some champagne, celebrate your little hero moment? I could use a freaking drink. Like, seriously. [She takes one long swig.] Oh wowwww. I need more.
What? You're too good for champagne now? [You remember the fight. Sofia running away. The bandages.]
(chuckles) Careful. Morgan will kill you if you unravel that bandage. Took her ages to wrap that thing properly. [Things are familiar. And yet... not.]
Don't stare. It's rude.
What?
Come on, now. [You were supposed to do something. You can't remember. How long have you been sitting here?]
You're letting your imagination get the best of you again, detective. Don't be silly.
Just drink.
Take the night off. And I'll see you tomorrow. [You're going to do as she says.]
That's right. [Yes. You want to.]
Bye, sweetheart.
