POLL: What do you think of this idea to factor injured players into per-game rankings?

For me, my two main issues with per-game rankings are how standard 9-cat doesn't give the best reflection of individual player rankings (my attempt for a fix for this was the H2H ranking type that I introduced a few years ago).

My other, is how high injured players or players who are projected to play less than 50 games get treated equally in per-game average rankings.

I've been tinkering with this idea for a while, and want to get your feedback on it:

The idea is to add a games played penalty that is only used when per-game averages is selected (it'll be grayed out and ignored when other options are selected). It would work by applying a penalty to the TOTAL score, which is used to generate the ranking order.

I'm still working out the details, but my initial thinking was applying the penalty to those players projected to play fewer than 50/82 games this season (Embiid etc.) and double the penalty to those players who are projected to possibly return before the end of the season and play fewer than 25 games (Kyrie, maybe Tatum?).

What do you think?

I've been playing around with that idea! I'll add it to my to-do list before the season starts so I don't forget.

Love the new tool idea super helpful. Also maybe not be the right place to post this but was thinking about how helpful a tool to see players consistency for each category would be. like Player A averages 5 assists and always gets 5ish, while player B gets 1, 15, 6 , 3 ,9 etc. but they both average 5

Yeah, it's super hard to predict injuries. I think the main benefit comes with players that are returning to the season late due to big injuries (Murray, Kyrie etc.). Seems like this is becoming more common, so I wanted to try and come up with an idea that'll help on draft day. The idea you mentioned is coming in a draft guide BTW!

Love the option. Problem is injuries are unpredictable and uncertain. However you tool let's me toggle it on and off and see how both look. Another idea might be to include an injury risk factor rating somehow in the normal rankings. Like a team full of embiid and Zions might have a high rank but also a high inj risk factor next to it. While a team with Jalen G and Mikal would have a lower rate but a low injury risk factor. If that makes sense.
