Gay Archetypes Update-

However, this lead me back to an issue I've been dealing with since the start of this mod which is the wishy washy sexuality system that EA added a few years ago that really only ended up serving bigots like this:

 Before that update all Sims had fluid sexuality's based on who they were paired with and who the player had them romance, and how successful that romance was.

This concept still exists in the game for sims that have "exploring romantically" turned on. If you turn that off, then the game theoretically locks the sim to whatever gender they're attracted to. HOWEVER, they also added seperate Woohoo preferences which you would THINK would make sense considering the IRL difference between romantic and sexual attraction, but in reality its woohoo preferences that determine which sims your player sim can romance, not just woohoo, when romance exploration and for some reason sims get jealous of woohoo partners despite it being supposed to represent non-monogamous NSA relationships in the first place.

And to complicate things further, Wicked whims bases its sexual compatibility based off of romantic preferences, not woohoo preferences.

So back to my mod. After taking my time to better understand how this system works, I've reworked how my mod assigns the Straight, Gay (or Bi), and Closeted traits to NPC's, so that the traits actually reflect how player sims can interact with them. If a male sim initially is "Not Romantically Attracted To Male Sims" the mod gives them the Straight trait. If the sim IS "Romantically Attracted to Male Sims" they'll get my Archetype Tracker Trait which will then assign gay or bi based on whether they are also into women or have "Exploring" turned on.

If a straight male sim has exploring turned on, they'll also get the Questioning trait. If these questioning sims begin to be "Romantically Attracted to Males" through normal gameplay, they'll then become Closeted, at which point they can be Bromanced even easier, as well as be encouraged to come out. I'm still deciding on how much I want these traits, to be 'enforced' through game play. I want to create ample opportunity for semi-realistic straight to gay and/or coming out story lines, but I also don't want to make it so realistic that 90% of the npc's were straight and unromanceable, or closeted and miserable. So still a WIP.

New Mod Idea: Immersive Polyamory

While experimenting with the various sexuality settings, I found myself frustrated with the games hyperactive jealousy system. All it takes is 30 on the romance bar and suddenly your sim is cannot be flirted with without triggering jealousy reactions, which begs the question of what is the point of asking sims out, or getting married, if simply flirting a few times puts a sim in a committed relationship. WW has several traits which helps resolve these issues polyamourous, casual romantic, and cuckold, but they're all add via menu which I find to be boring. Now that sims can discover new traits about themselves, why not have sims discover that their into being cucked when they find their spouse cheating on them. Why not have dialogue options to form an open relationship that adds the polyamorous trait to both sims. Or the option for a cuckold to encourage their partner to sleep with other sims. These are some of the ideas I'm bouncing around for this mod, which is still pretty early in development.
