YOUNG ROYALS 2x2 FULL REACTION

YOUNG ROYALS 2x2 FULL REACTION

Comments

Several comments: I believe the Queen (in the discussion in which she said “when you’re 18”) meant that Wilhelm couldn’t make decisions that affect his future, not personal questions like who he likes or his favorite food. I also think she meant by “accomodations” that a suitable show marriage could be arranged, one perhaps productive of heirs but which would allow Wilhelm to pursue a discrete private relationship—kinda like the French royal concubines. August effectively destroyed the one thing that mattered to Wilhelm, made a serious attack on Wilhelm’s reputation and committed a very real criminal act. Against all that, is Wilhelm’s causing the removal/ termination of August’s special privileges really going overboard? Afterall, August only lost “extras.” He was still at school, participating, fit, studying, eating, etc. August apologized to Wilhelm—never to Simone (to whom he owed multiple apologies, not least of which was thievery($)). And then there’s Sarah. How much forebearance is owed her because of her Asperger’s? I don’t know but many of her actions are so ethically questionable that it can’t be glossed over. She straight-up betrayed Felice. Again! And did so after violating Felice’s privacy. And worse! What Felice did was in support of Wilhelm AND Simone. But karma acted swiftly with Russeau being put up for sale. That was quite a cliff hanger ending—but as you’re into season 3 now…

That was the first time in the entire series that we've heard Wille's mother say she loves him. She didn't even say that when Erik died. It was also the first time she really acknowledged his sexuality and told him it was ok. She definitely didn't do that after the video was leaked. I think this lack of love, affection, and approval is the thing that makes Wille so needy and so desperate to regain his relationship with Simon, because that's been the only really genuine and loving relationship he's had other than his relationship with his brother, which was also probably a bit guarded due to Erik's position as crown prince. Also, I have to say again how much I am enjoying your reactions. Your analysis is so insightful and I am still seeing new angles to things even though I've seen the series so many times.
