New early access projects and public releases

New early access projects

Today, I released a new version of my ProtonAOSP ROM, 11.4.1-test0, for early access patrons. The initial early access version, test0, is only available for the Pixel 4 and 4 XL because it's focused on the new device support. New changes since 11.4.0:

• Added adaptive brightness toggle in quick settings
• Added support for Pixel 4 and 4 XL
• Low-level blur optimizations for GPU efficiency
• Improved blur quality with state-of-the-art triangular RGB blue noise dithering and gamma correction
• Pixel 4: Customizable Active Edge support
• Pixel 4: Fixed unexpected disconnects from weak 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks (stock bug)
• Pixel 4: Night Light color temperature calibration from stock
• Pixel 4: Temperature and USB port overheating warnings from stock
• Pixel 4: Reduced background memory usage
• Pixel 4: Optimized native code for Cortex-A76 CPU

• Pixel 4: Customizable implementation of Soli Motion Sense gestures
• Pixel 4: Smoother lock screen

If you prefer manual installation, let me know which device and variant you want (gapps or minimal) and I'll send you a download link.

In particular, the blur improvements are the result of a massive undertaking that I started back in December 2020. The result is much smoother and more detailed now due to the use of state-of-the-art graphics rendering techniques from the gaming industry (dithering with RGB blue noise reshaped to a triangular distribution, and gamma correction). Patrons, watch out for a post with the details soon!

Public releases

The early access projects that I initially launched with on Patreon, Android 12 Extensions 2.0.0 and Inter Font Pack 3.18.0, have been public for about a week.

A new version of my ProtonAOSP ROM for the Pixel 2, 2 XL, 4a 5G, and 5 was also released for early access and is now public as ProtonAOSP 11.4.0:

• April security patch
• Machine learning back gesture from Android 12 (better accuracy and adaptive sensitivity)
• Improved overall system performance
• Up to 18% faster app, menu, and screen opening
• 16% faster screenshot capturing
• Up to 4x faster low-level memory management

• Compiled with the latest Clang 12 toolchain from Android 12
