As promised way back in Mass Effect 2 we're going to get into how 3 butchers the Legion's writing and the Geth storyline.
High key this mission was treated too favorably in the Mission Rankings.

This mission could have been done better where you have Legion with you in the mission and he's accessing information on the Morning War for you.

2025-05-15 02:12:03 +0000 UTCI could write a whole ass essay on how ME3 drops the ball with the geth, but I'll just say that it's so damn tragic to read how Chris L'Etoile and Drew Karpyshyn agreed that the assumption that synthetics must desire to have the individuality of organics is basically organic racism, and then see how Mass Effect 3 turns around and has the Geth desire precisely that. They really took a plotline about an entirely different form of life, guided by its own fundamentally different, yet equally valid incentives for living, and turned it into space Pinocchio.

2025-05-14 19:12:19 +0000 UTCThis lore-dump-level was ok. Not as bad as that terrible ‘Best Left Forgotten’ level from Fallout 4’s Far Harbor DLC, but it does take up more time than it needs to. The Geth exposition is a nice bit of world building, and adds some weight to decisions you have to make later in the game.

More memories/flashback cutscenes akin to Javik’s mission with the Prothean Beacon memories would’ve greatly helped with Geth/Quarian development. Could’ve done with some minor combat. Instead, we got a Geth computer walking simulator.

However they didn’t seem to take into account the absurdity of having a BSG style fleet floating around for 300 years. It simply can’t be sustained. And glossing over the Geth K/D ratio in the morning war is simply trying to sprint to the conclusion of the conflict rather than making any attempt to look at the morality of either side.

And let me tell you, I was pissed when my PS4 decided to crash right before the Rannoch mission, my file was damaged, and I had to do this mission a second time in one day because that was the only file I could reload to. As a side note, I am now a PC gamer and have been playing Mass Effect LE and Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC for the first time! Can’t wait to go through the game with mods in the future!

2025-05-14 17:59:10 +0000 UTCImagine actually fighting in the Geth Quarin war once seen as a surviving unit that either escaped or managed to hack into more units to being a quarin holding out before being overrun with your squad mirroring the beginning with Anderson but yea a C tier mission at best.
