2023-07-09 19:52:48 +0000 UTCI'm a huge Kamen Rider and Sentai fan and this is something nobody understands when I explain it to them. There was a post a while ago of a clip of a scene from the latest Sentai season and how they upped the budget to use green screen effects that Disney was using on the Mandalorian. All the commentors were roasting it saying how "wow Power Rangers still looks shit after all these years even with tech from the Mandalorian" without even acknowledging that Japan probably has like 1/50th of that budget. Meanwhile all the Japanese commentors were blown away that any Japanese produciton could look that good and were even worried all the budget was wasted on that one scene.

2023-06-23 18:44:50 +0000 UTCI think a big reason some Godzilla movies have inferior effects is because of their budgets. The Japanese movie making industry didn’t have as much money behind it. This movie had an 11 million dollar budget, less than 20% of the budget of Jurassic Park, which was 63 million. Terminator 2 was made for 100 million. If T2 had an 11 million dollar budget it’d probably look pretty shitty too 😆
