Open Trade - Pg 224

Stephanie takes a trip to see her family. It's been over 100 pages she we saw her there last. We hinted she has been home a few times since then. But the first time we get to see her interact with her mom, and it is still awkward. Maybe slightly impoved.

How is everyone doing this June? Pride is here! I'll have to think of some fun pin ups for the month. What would you like to see?

It's something I've circled around a few times and yet to have an answer I really love. I love some human error. Steph may not be good at communicating. But all it takes is Mina going with her to renew their passports, and any hint of a crisis is averted. At the moment, it's just Steph's mom being a bitch, and Steph not understanding passports since the last time she had one was when she was 15.

You can also get a lost USA passport online. There is an issue of photograph. Which requires you go to a USA Post Office and wait about 4 weeks. Any shorter, you have to process an emergency passport which means going to an official State Department office. no, there is no way a State Department official would 'accidentally' issue a SK passport. Can't be done. There are lots of holes in this "world." Like identification paperwork, certifications, degrees, licenses, and permits. This has NOT been an issue as the story line stayed far away from these complications. Now you've opened big cans of worms.

In our world, yeah it would be next to impossible to 'accidently' get the wrong passport. Steph would have to do a 6 hour drive to Chicago to get a new fresh passport. And then there would be a bunch of small things that should trigger before then. (You can however request a lost SK passport online). In steph's world, things are a bit more fluid. You can do major identity changes on an app that are effective immediately, like a name change. I guess if some confused person at the office thought it was more likely that Stephanie was a Korean citizen when asking for a Korean passport, they might be able to fix that on the fly. Still a good amount of human error.

Roseleaf

Lady that's not how passports work. You can't just get a south korean passport as an american citizen. (Plus renouncing the American citizenship is super expensive) At least being uninformed will mean she will fit right in in congress if she gets in.

Hopefighter

They are talking. So that's a plus?? But correct that Stephanie would have an American passport, unless she was from South Korea.

Roseleaf

The relationship has slightly improved? From what Steph's mom just said, getting a South Korean passport is the same as telling her to renounce her American citizen ship. At least IMHO. Steph, your mom is poison, get as far away from her as you can.

Its gonna be hard to hide her internet famous thot of a daughter.

Roseleaf

Oooh, I hope some reporter, off the cuff, asks about Stephanie, and she forgets herself and answers honestly. That'll cost her some votes, especially if they catch wind that her husband still considers Steph his child, and a daughter to boot.

Czarzhan

Yeah, it's rough. She's like kinda helping. But also not really.

Roseleaf

I will actually answer as you could zoom in and read the signs. She is running for "congress", which is admittedly still vague.

Roseleaf

I know this will probably be answered on the next page. what is she running for? It's bugging the hell out of me

Pop26

Wow. Literally just refusing to acknowledge her as her daughter, treating her like a stranger.
