Anytime we do a big change, or have a notable new character, I need to take some time to do some test sketches to get a feel for them before they show up in the comic.
These are my test sketches for the male version of Mina.
Like all of the characters that have the larger changes, I try to look at what aspects of them cannot change. So for Mina, I felt we needed to keep the bangs, nose shape and face shape to continue to communicate that this is Mina.
