Open Trade - Pg 191

Girls night out the bar. They need some down time. But seems like the bars started checking ID's.

This may be a more American question, but did you drink before you were 21? What was your first drink?

Sorry the schedule has been a little weird. Again later on a Wednesday. I'd expect the same next week. I'd say it will be the last off day for a while, but looking ahead at the holidays, I may do as adjusted schedule.

Solid question. In the US, 18 is considered to be a legal adult and grants access to ownership and full antonomy, as well as the armed forces and legal responsibility. Mostly the exceptions are drinking and renting a car. So, by default 18 becomes the age for trading. I could see arguments of the brain isn't fully developed until 25, and people fearing the damage this could do. I wouldn't be shocked if legislation suddenly raises the age for trades before Stephanie can trade back.

You know thinking about it, why is trading ages above or below 21, not an "illegal" trade? seems VERY loophole-y

Not a big wine fan either. Doesn't sit right with me. I do a bourbon or bourbon cocktail on a date night out at a restuarant. No or less sugars. Nothing wrong with a standard drink.

Since today’s topic is Alcohol apparently, I enjoy a beer with dinner occasionally but I only get drunk a couple times a year. I keep thinking I’m gonna try more wine, but I don’t. I have the wine palette of a child. At restaurants I get the same stuff again and again. A Modelo or some sort of Hefeweizen for beer, a Moscow Mule if I have money for cocktails, but with wine I just get whatever other people are ordering.

Huh. Not the state I thought it would be, and yet it makes absolute sense. When people come to my family gatherings there tends to be a lot of confusion, and there are no booze. I'm equally confused, after going up with no booze at family functions that there would be alcohal.

Similarly, I sipped my dad's beer when I was in my young teens. It was awful. I tried again when I was 21. Still hate most beer. But if it is my only option, I do like Spotted Cow (available in WI only), or a 'red'.

I come from the most drunk state in the US where we boast seven of the ten drunkest cities nationally. My home town was built on booze - literally - so we have a real different perspective when it comes to drinking. My family would let us have a drink at family gatherings - but only one. Drinking outside those conditions were frowned upon. But once we turned 21, we were allowed to do whatever we wanted. So yeah, doing consultant work for a brewery and a distillery bring me into contact with booze a lot. I drink moderately, and only good stuff (life is too short to drink cheap stuff) and don’t get blotto with any regularity. That being said, I did get removed from a drinking contest in Jamaica when they found out where I was from, claiming I had an “unfair advantage.”

Yeah, I have a sweet tooth and I enjoy peppermint, so my go to is Peppermint Schnapps, and even that in limited quantities. The SCA event I mentioned above had a slew of home brew liquors, some of which were quite tasty. I also carried around a gallon of water that night both to wash the bad ones out of my mouth and to stay hydrated and avoid a hangover the next morning.

First time and only time I ever drank alcohol was when I was 24 and I despised it. Can't imagine why people would want to poison their body with that crap. Beer tastes like dirt, everything else is bitter, and even just being slightly tipsy led to a loss of self-control that I absolutely never want to experience again. Absolutely do not see how people find it fun.

When I was 7, I asked my dad what the beer he was drinking tasted like (this was in the early 1970s). He let me have a sip, and I decided there that I didn't like beer. After I reached 21, I drank rarely and sparingly and, with the exception of one SCA event in 2000, I've never been drunk.
