A lot of the characters in the story are based off of real people I worked with or knew at the time. Oddly enough thinking back, this was probably the first queer friend I had. Or at least out and very matter of fact about it.
Felt like there was a lot of 'performative lesbians' in the wake of like stuff like Cruel Intentions and Wild Things. Maybe they were exploring things, but for all intents and purposes those people were straight. "Sophia" was already 'married' when we met. (I had to go back and add the '' on married as I realize same sex relationships were not legal yet.)
