I really like roller debry. I've pitched a main comic story with roller debry. Most of it worked, ending needed some work. Someday I may circle back to it.
Fun fact while doing some last minute googling to confirm some details. I did find that trans women and non-binary people can compete in roller debry. Cinci's team does have two trans women (as far as I can tell from the roster alone). Ohio in general seems to proudly state they are open for women and gender-expansive people. So I assume there are trans men actively playing and welcome as well.
If I was younger and this was an option, I absolutely would have played roller derby. I skated alot! I'll settle for dating a couple roller derby girls.
The text is a little smaller in this cap, so there is the full text below and a downloadable pdf as well.

After losing a player to an injury, the Rollergirls needed a new player to keep from forfeiting. That’s when bombshell Betti had an idea.
She reached out of Roger. A hockey player in his off season and restless to compete. He was surprised at the offer. It sounded fun, but didn’t all the players supposed to be women. Sure, if there was someway that he could be a woman, he’d gladly sign up and help the ladies win Finals.
Betti accepted his terms. He could see a green glow of power flowing through her and her eyes turned bright with energy before blasting out and consuming Roger.
In moments the bulky bearded hockey Center was now a thick, curvy, 5’4” Roller derby Jammer sporting spandex and tattoos.
the new Roxie Rockette looked stunned at her new form and Betti circled her and inspected. Don’t worry. It’s only a temporary spell. You’ll automatically turn back when we win the finals.
They didn’t win.
They didn’t even make it past the semi finals.
Roxie got the look and body and world reshaped into thinking she had always been Roxie. But Betti kind of failed to provide any roller derby skills or knowledge. Roxie was almost more of a hindrance than an asset. But the team lost on their own terms.
Roxie also didn’t turn back. She spent a year getting to discover Roxie’s invented life and how to play roller derby. She discovered she liked her time as a woman a lot, and roller derby was so much more intense than hockey.
A year later they won the semi finals, and were int he finals with a comfortable lead. Roxie skated next to Betti to confirm. “So, if we win, I turn back and get my old life back, right?”
“Yep. Providing nothing happens to get you kicked out of the game in the ten minutes.”
“Got it. Be right back, I’m going to go punch the ref in the face.”
