Discord Extras {July 2025}

Welcome everyone to your July Patreon Gallery Update! Hope all my Fellow Americans had a fun and safe 4th of July! ^o^

June was one of my most unproductive months for a long while when it comes to actual art projects. My Major project of the month took me two weeks to create because of its complexity and difficulty, and with a lot of other junk going on in my life. The death of one of my kittens, the heat, and the artist block that has been getting worse and worse, my creativity has really taken a hit. My mom also broke her rib and knee yesterday too so I'm likely gonna have to take care of her until she can get back on her feet again. x_x

I am really considering taking an actual legit break in July from any sort of commitment to art quotas and just doing what I can, I do have some easier character modeling projects that I will like to get to, so there is not gonna be nothing happening. Honestly there is probably never going to be a time when I am not making something art related. lol

It's also looking very likely that I'll be going on a weekend hiking trip with friends and my brother to the mountains towards the end of the month, if something horrible doesn't happen before then, so that will be a ton of fun! ^o^

I'll keep you all posted if anything happens of course, for sure on discord, where all of what I have just mentioned was already posted, so the majority of all of you have already heard all this.

So with all of that out of the way, lets get onto what everyone is actually here for, the art! ;P

This guy was my Character project of the month! He took two weeks to complete, a lot of that time was spent on learning how to place feathers on a 3D model using Blenders Particle system. Also did a lot of research trying to find out possible easy ways to distribute feathers realistically, there weren't any free options aside from Blender so I ended up focusing on that route! The results where pretty decent, but the act was still quite an undertaking, with very little automation. Lots of intricate hands on editing was needed to fix all the geometry feather clipping to get the best results. In the end though, it was better than hand placing every feather one by one which is what I was doing before. lol

The 5 images here are renders of the final completed version of the character model.

The new arm feather design showcased on the third image ended up working really well for this character too, sense the wing structure of a Rooster is rather short and stubby. :P

Despite everything I really do love how he came out in the end and will be using the feather technique again in future projects too. ^o^
