I think if I were in this scenario I'd try posting the big reviews and ideas onto the main channel (even if it means being less consistent there) and putting on Patreon the smaller kinda reviews, with a lot of promotion about it on Instagram or maybe even yt shorts. And that's another thing, a lot of people find it really easy being viral for example on TikTok, which is a platform that millions of people consume. Maybe you could give it a try with short reviews and little editing.

I agree with everything in this video

Leaning more into the retrospective content on the main channel sounds like a great idea going forward. I personally often find that those videos excite me the most and also end up being the most rewatchable (especially the video essays). I suspect that would be due to the fact that viewers are more likely to have opinions and memories attached to projects that have been out for a while. Making videos on other electronic releases outside of bass would be a good shout too. Daft Punk and Porter both have massive fanbases so tapping into that would be great for bringing in new viewers. First listen are good fun but often don't have as much rewatchability, with the exception of releases I personally enjoy more - which is something that is difficult to gauge for every person, but would often equate to more popular artist's releases being the ones with most audience interest. The ideas you are suggesting all sound like good actions to take, so I would suggest going with what feels right. If it doesn't work out, it's not unsalvagable as you can still move back to what you know works while you figure it out.

Well said!

Connor! Dude you have honestly changed my perspective on music and I am so thankful for your channel and that you’re willing to have deeper and more significant conversations around bass music. It’s what kept me into bass music and branched out my taste. As someone who has also done research and follows my intuition regularly, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS follow what it is telling you. I view it as another way that your body is trying to keep you alive and happy. I think you should expand into more electronic music if that is what’s best for the channel and for you. You will still have the extra Nawties to give recognition to those more underground and niche projects, so it’s not like you’re completely abandoning it either. After watching your channel for more than two years, it is clear that more people need to be seeing what you do. I love the tier lists and I feel that it would be easier to keep up on the videos if you focus on the bigger projects, and probably less exhausting for you. If this is the direction you want to go down, then this sounds like a very exciting change! It’s worth a shot it sounds like, so I will keep tuning in as well. Thanks again for all that you do :)

You have recommended so much phenomenal music on your channel throughout the years but the bass music scene is a more niche scene and putting out bigger name videos would definitely let the channel grow. You have allowed me to enjoy music that has moved me to tears from how good it is. Artists like Voljum, Protial, and Monty to name a few have completely changed my perspective to what this genre could be. However the Nawtystep channel needs to succeed so more content can be created. Once you have a bigger audience maybe you can cover more of the bass scene in depth we all dearly love. Short reviews and best of bass/project playlists would help keep the bass scene discussion going for now. Decisions are hard but I do appreciate all the work you do Nawty.
