0.55 Post-Mortem

Alright, it is time!

First of all, I want to thank everyone that is still supporting me. You really did not have to, so I appreciate it even more.

A lot of stuff has happened in my private life since the last update and I am pleased to announce that pretty much everything is dealt with. I will take up a regular pace again and at the same time keep to a better schedule. I also intend to keep up (bi?-)weekly progress updates.

As promised – In part as apology for the Update taking forever – everyone that supported me in both December and January, regardless of Supporter Tier, will get to suggest a scene. I will write another post in the next days with some details so we are on the same page.

Regarding the update itself:

As I was playtesting and reading the content which was near-complete, I found myself in the awkward position of realizing that the content was very dependent on various tracked variables. In unfortunate situations you might not have encountered even a single scene based on what you did in your game. This would have been less of a problem if I had updated in a timely manner, but with half a year of personal problems stretching the release window… Yeah, no. What originally was a fun idea to mark a point with clear differences turned out to be a zero-content experience. I decided to re-organize scenes and streamline them. The differences are more minor once again and the traits you accumulated decide some scenes. In short: I de-complicated the whole thing so you actually get to see something and you still might be in for a short experience. I already feel terrible about it ending up somewhere between 10-12k words after all this time, and me removing a lot of the work on the differences, but this was for the best. Also removed a minigame that fed into the original cliffhanger, but might reuse it. Not sure, gonna see.

The next update:

Gunning for a release near the end of march, since there is zero pre-work done. The last poll saw the VR battle between Girls as a winner. I would like to focus on that, but I see it as a potentially great way to explain some of the scenes that eligible patrons might come up with. I have removed the cliffhanger for the current update to leave myself some wriggle-room on deciding the route to take. We will see how it goes, but its likely I will implement it for the next update nevertheless. It’s also entirely possible, and probably very likely, that your suggested scenes won’t be part of the next update.

As repeatedly stated both in Discord and on my updates, I will retroactively send a link to everyone who had supported me with the “New Girl” Tier since the last update.

Renders:
You might notice that render-quality is all over the place in this update. As already mentioned - And the original reason for the delays - was to improve them. Well, I managed to fix a few of them before the release. The next ones should have more... consistency.
