Nightwick: The Piteous Worm

Behold! The Piteous Worm! There has never been a creature more frightening for both its destructive capacity and for the obvious expressions of its own torment. To kill it would be to free it from itself, but many who have tried have been blasted by its arcane energies into nothing, and even so, does a servant of the Sword Brothers deserve such a release?

This monster actually predates my idea for Nightwick Abbey by about a year, though I think there is a great synergy between the two ideas. It has long bothered me that I didn't have a good image to match my description, as most of my attempts to describe it verbally led to jokes about a certain film I don't have any fondness for. Luckily I think Huth has provided me with an absolutely stellar illustration for it.

As always, art and layout by Chris Huth.
