Well we're official into the summer months in the northern hemisphere and I'm personally loving all of the greenery that's coming in around me. We've had a great month of May that brought us a number of wonderful creations for your home games. It's been so wonderful getting to continue to share them with you as we approach our 250th release. Can you believe we've been doing this long enough to get to that number? We've come a long way since we started, but we still have more to offer! Lets get into what came out in May.

Bloomcap
See the snarled masses of roots and get an early warning if anyone is approaching with this convenient cap made from a mushroom.

Patreon Subscription Billing Change & New Features
Some of you may have been keeping up with ongoing discussions around Patreon moving everyone to what they call Subscription billing instead of Monthly or Pay Per Creation posts. This was part of an ongoing legal battle between Apple and several content creators over whether or not Apple could force all billing to be done through their App Store. In the end, the decision didn't go Apple's way and thankfully that means Patreon will not be pushing everyone to Subscription billing.
Up until now, we've been on what was called Monthly billing where all patrons were billed on the 1st of the month. This has worked pretty well for us, but I can't deny that it does make for some confusion when a new patron joins late in the month and is billed again on the 1st. It didn't really sit right with me at the time and it still hasn't. Thankfully, now that there are some features we've been waiting on, we were able to make the transition to Subscription billing.
For our current awesome patrons, nothing changes! You'll still be billed on the 1st of the month like usual. For new patrons, they'll be billed when they join and then again 1 month later. Their renewal date will be the same month to month so if they joined on the 12th, they will renew on the 12th of the following month. This means that the subscriptions here act more like how people would expect and that will hopefully lead to less billing confusion in the future.
This also means we were able to implement some new features that were specific to the Subscription billing model including gifting subscriptions, promotional rates (coming soon), and other features to help with retention and creation delivery. I always like to be transparent with you all. In my eyes AB is doing quite well, but we're always looking for ways to improve and this is one I've been wanting to implement for awhile. It will likely help us attract new patrons and keep the ones we have. It will also mean some new offerings from us in the near future.
