DMF: Yoongi’s POV Outside the Library

Park Jimin called me pretty.
It’s not the first compliment the guy has ever thrown his way — he used to dish them out way more honestly in high school — but it’s the first time this new Jimin has spoken to him like this, like Yoongi is something to be whispered gentle nothings to. The fingers at the back of his neck aren’t helping his case, either.
“Well,” he musters, somehow. “That’s one way to put it.”
Prettyprettyprettypretty—
Yoongi has never considered going bald, but maybe…
No, he can’t get swayed and revert to his old ways this easily! Despite having sorted out their misunderstanding, part of Yoongi’s brain tells him to still be wary of Jimin’s actions, in a way.
Smiling, Jimin pulls back, taking the warmth of his hands with him. “See? I can be a good friend.”
I missed you, Yoongi thinks with a desperation he didn’t know he had in him until now. Moments like this, when Jimin sheds his defenses and just becomes completely like his old self, are almost enough to make Yoongi do something stupid, like reach out like—
Like he’s doing now, picking at a random thread off Jimin’s sleeve. “Green surprisingly doesn’t wash your complexion out.”
Jimin glares at him, and the softness of the earlier moment fades, replaced by something easier and more casual like they’ve been going by with for weeks now. “Wow, thanks.”
Yoongi just looks at him, at the way the afternoon light frames the blond hair at the top of his head, the whole time wondering how it’s possible to keep deeply missing somebody who’s already right in front of his eyes.
