(Old work) 9S Griss Swimwear (HD/Progress Shot/Relight Result & Video)

Long long ago... Back in the far away time of... 2022... there was a trend thing. I wasn' a fan of jumping into these (although in time I've come to see the how fun they can be), but this particular one caught my eye, for it was about this shiny sexy swimwear... And artists were drawing guys in this. ^_^

So I started with a sketch, that somehow leaned a lil further into realistic anatomy than I usually do (sometimes I start drawing and I end up treading weird paths like that... XD).

It also ended up being 9S cause why not? I mean, I love the boy to bits. ^^

Then I wanted to do this thing where I airbrush the heck out of it. I set the line opacity really low (lower than 10% or 5% even), set it to multiply and just start painting with a really soft round brush till volumes start to take form. Then I keep doing the same on top of the line with smaller and smaller brushes so I keep getting definition and harder edges here and there. One of the drawbacks of this is how everything spills everywere and you have to delete outside your figure, so not the worst idea to create a mask for what's gonna be the figure. I mean, it's not truly necessary but it helps save time later.

Another quirck of this technique is that you lose the linework. It's an intended effect but it requires a lot of work to define the volumes right. A nice way to avoid this is to draw lines on top of everything. Some would says it defeats the purpose of the detailed airbrushing, but with time I've come to avoid absolutes and just do what feels right and looks right. :P

And thus, we have our sexy handsome 9S in all his HD glory, in a see trhough latexy griss swimwear (I never knew what was called like that. I guess it's the brand of the swimsuit?). Hope you all like it. ^^

If I were to do it again, I would probably keep the hips but would go easier on the tights width. Specially in the fron view. But all in all I think it came out pretty ok. :P

Not a lot going on on this one. Wasn't meant for shows and most of the work is flatened. Although it kindda represents the spirit of these kind of works with no fancy layer work, just good ol painting over and over. ^^

As a lil bonus, lemme share with you this relight I did using Clipdrops free tool (https://clipdrop.co/relight). Sadly not HD since HD pics require a premium account. But I have a lil video of the process. (I feel like I should start recording me more when I work. I really like to watch other artists' timelapses.)
