Romanticise the Process
Added 2024-12-08 17:45:50 +0000 UTCWanted to share a banger of a video i just watched on my flight across the Pacific back to the US.
Sometimes I go through phases where I get lost in the thick of it and forget the real reason and purpose to why I'm doing this whole music thing. Hell, why we do anything. So I've been playing with the idea of falling in love with the journey, not the destination, for almost the entirely of 2024. It's been really interesting trying to change my approach and remember what its like to have fun while creating again.
It's a really slippery slope. And one I think is well worth the reminder...
LOVE THE PROCESS.
The final product almost doesn't even matter.
I've learnt over the past 10+ years of doing this, ticking off boxes and career milestones, playing festivals, collaborating with big artists, that they are exciting for a VERY short time, and then the moment is over, and we move onto the next thing. So if we (I) don't remember to enjoy the PRESENT MOMENT, then 99% of our lives will be missed opportunities to be happy. Learn to love the process. Life IS the process. The goals, the milestones, the successes, they're wonderful, but they all come second place and are fleeting moments.
Love the process.

2024-12-12 21:59:43 +0000 UTCAmen. Tying your happiness and satisfaction to external goals that aren't wholly within your control is a surefire way to either burn out or develop a bitter attitude. Learning to give back and love the process is what keeps the fire burning though the darkest of nights and the toughest of storms. It's easy to forget we would be nothing without it.
